so as i've mentioned (or think i've mentioned) i've been kicking around an idea for a new business.

long story short, nearly every aspect of it incorporates things from my past; things i've learned, people i've met, skills i've developed. the business concept is a reflection of my amassed life knowledge.

i'm not really going to go into details here on LJ for a number of reasons, the main one being i'm working right now and just don't have time. but i do want to start reporting progress here because this is where i track my weekly/monthly accomplishments.

i've done my basic paperwork research and i think i'm clear on all the forms i have to fill out, and the order in which they need to be finished. the web domain has been reserved, and i have a hosting agreement with dreamhost. they have a great deal going on right now, so it was worth it. i have someone lined up to design the website and i've got rough ideas for the logo and page layout down on paper. i'm talking to a woman i worked with before about getting the packaging made up -- packaging is a cornerstone of this idea and i need to get it right the first time around. the only obstacle that makes me nervous is marketing. marketing has never been my strong suite and i don't know anyone who's good at it and affordable at the same time. if you know someone, by all means let me know. otherwise i'll have to feel out a few different avenues.

as for the product itself, that's the easy part, and the fun part for me. but i feel like having stacks and stacks of product is worthless if you don't have a business set up around it, ready to get it out to the public. and since building up the business is the less fun part, i'm trying to do it first.

more to follow, after more ducks get in a row.

love kittie
