Yesterday, two of my translations were released in scanlated form. One of them, of course, was
Carp. I'm going to withhold comment on this for the moment.
The other was Kunieda Saika's "A Chance Encounter in the Cosmos." OMG. This is one of the craziest pieces of crack you'll ever read! I seriously love it. There are so many little details that are just hilarious. Like, the guy wearing ballet shoes in the picture below.
Essentially, it's the story of the world's (no, the universe's) ugliest starship captain who falls in love with a beautiful (male) prisoner of war. I have to say, this is one of the most disgusting (in an amusing way) sex scenes I've ever read. And, yet, somehow, I keep reading this thing over and over. Even though it's silly, she still manages to give it some depth. The English version turned out pretty well (although I prefer the Japanese.) You can read more and download it
here if you're interested.
I think lack of sleep in making me crazy. Seriously crazy. Every day I come up with some excuse, usually scanlation related, that I have to be up at 2 in the morning. This is just plain stupid. Especially when I'm too tired the next day to translate anything properly. And, then, the day after that, my state of mind is even worse. The exhaustion just builds on itself until I'm almost completely dysfunctional. This isn't "getting a head start." It's just stupidity. Therefore, I've decided that, on work nights, I'm going to bed no later midnight. THIS IS A RULE. No excuses. Hahahaha, we'll see how it goes.
Last night, I managed to be in bed at midnight, but I didn't fall asleep until 2. Then, wouldn't you know?! My phone rang at 4 am! I let the machine pick up, but no one left a message. Then five minutes later, it rang again. I answered this time, but the person hung up. Then, five minutes later, it rang again. This continued for about half an hour before I got the brilliant idea to disconnect my phone. However, by that point, I was so angry at the interruption that I didn't fall back to sleep until 6. And my alarm went off at 7!
So, the point of the story is, I'm still exhausted and crazy. Crazy, I tell you! And not in an amusing way.
I hope tonight goes better.
