Island in your Eyes

I was so excited about SYTYCD tonight because one of the guys did his solo to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." His solo wasn't the best, but I was like, "OMG! There's Hawaiian music on prime time TV!" I use his song, "Kaleohano," as a warm up in my class.

After that, I got the (perhaps stupid) idea to choreograph a dance to "Island in your Eyes." I'm a terrible choreographer, but, every now and then, I get some delusion that I can do "something easy." The problem is, I can improvise to music, but if do something I like, I can't remember what I did. Even when I can repeat it, I'm not sure what steps I'm doing. Anyway, I choreographed something to the chant part, and I sorta have a chorus, and some hand movements for the second verse. The 'auana sections are hard for me, though. Everything seems so cheesy. The song is kinda cheesy, too, so maybe that's not completely inappropriate. But I like my chant sections.

The problem is, it's 3 am and I'm not tired. It's a mistake to dance for several hours before bedtime. And I'm a little worried that I've overstressed my knees again. Tomorrow (well, later today,) no dancing! I'm going to sleep and work on translating. Although I have to go buy some supplies for a new costume...
