I woke up early enough to watch the sunrise. Being on the beach has it's advantages, that being one of them. I sat on the sand, the salt water breeze hitting me in the face as the canvas of colors emerged. Although I'm not a morning person in the least, I've always favored the sunrise to sunset. It's the beginning of a new day and if you let yourself get caught up in the beauty, you can forget about yesterday's problems. It's breathtaking.
When I first moved into this place, I explored. New surroundings are always fun, especially when someone has an inner Christopher Columbus. I was gone for hours, searching this new territory and finding places to call my own. It started to get tiring, all that walking around aimlessly, so I knew a break was due. Has anyone ever said that when you're not looking for something is when you'll find it? That's exactly what happened to me. The secret place I wanted to call my own was surrounding me as soon as I sat down in the sand. Enclosed by rocks, protected by sheets of slate, and comforted by the soft sand, I knew it was somewhere I had to visit regularly.
I've gone there everyday since I've lived here and it stills amazes me.
