Has anyone ever had cholestasis during pregnancy? I'm 36 weeks (Monday) with twins and the last 3 days Ive had itching that comes and goes. It's not PUPPS. I itch l over and sometimes its worse than at other times. It's not severe all the time. I did call the doctor on call and she said to come in for monitoring today at some point. I'm just waiting until everyone wakes up since its not urgent. In any case, I read about it a little and I can't tell if the itching would be constant or if it could come and go.
The other thing is that my entire pregnancy I've been pretty constipated and have needed to use stuff to attempt to help with that, but the last 2-3 days I've had BM's that are sort of orange colored and soft, but not full on diarrhea. Sometimes it does feel like its going to be diarrhea though.
I know the only way to really know much is when I go in today. Unfortunately my office is closed so it means a trip to the L&D. I guess I'm just wondering if you did have it or do have it what were your symptoms like? Does the itching come and go and vary over your entire body? I haven't had much hand or foot itching, but my ankles get really itchy and everything swells, but I know that can be normal.
EDIT: Just thought I'd come back to say I went in for monitoring later this morning and the preliminary blood results were within normal levels. I guess one of the tests for Bile Salts will take a few days to get results on, but I seemed to get the impression that if my preliminary levels were normal that I'm probably okay? So I suppose it's just a waiting game at this point. They want me to schedule an additional NST on monday (total of 2 next week, excluding todays monitoring) to make sure. But the babies were both active and I had plenty of contractions and all that.
