Hi guys!
I'm 25w+2, so far my pregnancy has been completely smooth sailing (aside from a few normal pregnancy niggles!) and baby is perfectly healthy and measuring right on cue so I haven't had much need to post here since my first post

However - I've now come across a question/dilemma I'd appreciate some input on
Today at my latest midwife ( Read more... )

I got hit with the flu jab must have at my last appointment to. As I understand it the government want all pregnant women, regardless of stage of pregnancy to have it this year. Mine will only be the flu jab as I have had the swine flu jab a couple of years ago, both me and my son have had it, which is good as neither of us can be carriers to our newborn. And given that he is at preschool and around all the germs...

I will be having it, next Friday actually and I will be 36 weeks at that point. But I have asthma, andmadam has made that flare up this pregnancy. I get the jabs most years as it is, but with my chest already weak, and my immune system already compromised by pregnancy there is no doubt that for me its the right choice. Or I could be facing one of two scenarios, being in labour while sick with the flu, or being a carrier to my newborn because without the jabs I always get it! The likelihood of me getting seriously sick without it at a very bad time to be sick is too high for me to risk not taking it when offered.

I rationalise it that she will already be term when I have the jab, so any effects on her will be minimal, if it affects her at all. But you have to make the right decision for you.
