Three quick questions

Feb 21, 2011 21:17

1. My husband and I are in the process of meeting with and interviewing doulas. What are some questions I should ask her, in your opinion? I've got a pretty long list, but I want to make sure I'm not leaving anything out.

2. I'm not 100% yet, but I am pretty sure I am having a medicated birth. Has anybody had a doula *and* an epidural? FWIW, all three doulas I contacted have attended medicated births in the past and say they are comfortable with epidurals. But I'd love some real-life stories if you don't mind sharing.

3. Since entering the third trimester, I am finding it hard to be excited about the baby in the same way I was before. I have panic disorder that was under control before I got pregnant, but is not so under control now. Whenever I think about the baby, I feel panicky and scared about birth and this is upsetting to me and it's sort of affecting my relationship with the baby. Instead of feeling like my fetus is my little best friend baby or whatever, I feel like she's a stranger to me, if that makes sense. I know this is fairly normal but I guess I just need reassurance that it will pass and I'll get excited again. And that I'm not actually a bad mom.

Thanks, ladies! Hope everyone here is feeling good and having a smooth ride of it.
