A couple months back, I posted asking about a doctor in Texas that Tricare assigned me to.
So far, I love them dearly. They're playing catch up for all of the blood tests and stuff that I missed while moving from one base to another.
They're very professional but not to the point of being annoying. I don't mind the occasional, appropriate joke because pregnancy is a stressful time. My doctor is good with them. He knows when to be serious. He knows when to crack a joke. I love it.
I've been diagnosed with GD and I have a few questions and also, something to rant about. This is the only negative thing I have to say about my doctors office.
Obviously, I failed the first test like a boss.
Failed the three hour with flying colors. When that occurred, I was told to take a third test. Come in in the AM fasting, get blood drawn, go eat breakfast and come back two hours later for another blood draw. This would determine if I get sent to the hospital or not (which I need to remember to ask WHY they'd send me since I thought it was manageable through diet and all that. I must be a special case. Has this occurred to anyone else? If so, what happened?)
Here's my rant. I did that test and for once, the phlebotomist could not find a vein that cooperated with her. Granted, they're tiny and they roll to begin with and I usually have to use a butterfly needle but this woman was usually good at just one semi-painless jab and the blood was flowing. That day was not my lucky day. Three spots later, and they got it flowing.
Really, it's insignificant. No big. It happens.
That was Monday. They told me to come in today for results/a check up. I asked about the blood test and the doctor (who even after all this, I still love) went to find the results.
I sat in the exam room and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And then I overhear the phlebotomist on the phone asking the lab where the results were.
Guess what? The labs didn't do the bloodwork for the fasting draw until someone called and said "Hey! Where is it?"
Why they waited, I have no clue. I was (and still am) pissed because I have to go and do this shit again on Monday.
I don't know when or where, but someone screwed up somewhere in that whole line of people and it's really screwing up my holidays.
Other than that, though? I love my doctor. He wants me to come in and just redo the test fresh from the go to get more accurate results, but still
And, finally, random question. Is it possible to just stop gaining weight at a certain point in pregnancy? I've been at 141 pounds for weeks. The doctors aren't concerned. I was just curious.
