Short cervix got no reason...

Last Thursday at my anatomy scan, my cervix was 3.5cm long. My doctor didn't even mention this until three days later, when I called to say I was having some very very mild spotting (I've spotted once a week or so since 5 weeks). I wanted to know if I should come in and be seen; then she was all, "Oh, by the way, I am concerned your cervix might be too short." She scheduled me to see a perinatologist today and I was shocked to find out that in six days, my cervix has shortened even further, to 2.7cm.

The peri said that he likes to see things above 3cm, but he doesn't start worrying until a cervix drops down to below 2.5cm. Additionally, my os was closed both externally and internally. He wouldn't discuss cerclage or progesterone until we see if it goes down next week and said that I could do bedrest if it would make me feel better, but it wasn't necessary. He also told me that if it were his cervix, he "wouldn't give a shit" at this point, meaning, I guess, not to worry. But I am SO worried.

Because it seems like my cervix is just melting away, doesn't it? To go from 3.5cm to 2.7cm in less than a week? My husband keeps bringing other stuff up from the appointment, like how the measurements could be off because they are so subjective, they are performed at different facilities and that makes a difference, that bladder fullness counts, too. Baby is now head down and wasn't last week! That makes a difference, too!

I don't care. All I keep seeing is that chart on preemie survival rates. At 20 weeks, it's ZERO. I have so far to go and it seems like so little cervix left.

I don't know anybody in real life this has happened to, so I am turning to you pregnant ladies. You are my last resort. Otherwise I have to make an appointment with Dr. Google and we all know what he'll say.
