Yikes.

So holy crap what a stressful day.

Had a doctor's appointment, no dilation, no signs of labor. Talked about the possibility of inducing. I wasn't really sure but we went ahead and scheduled one for Wednesday. She said since I wasn't dilated at all she'd have to induce with a drug called cytotec. Now thanks to this wonderful community the name rang a bell and I remembered hearing bad things. So I asked her what the risks were. And she completely blew off the question. Just gave me one of those "Well ya know there's risks to any medication you use, anything really can put the baby at risk." Obviously that answer didn't satisfy me, so I came home and researched it. For those that don't know, it's apparently only FDA approved for treating ulcers, NOT for inducing labor. It carries high risks of uterine rupture, even fetal death. And the reason most hospitals use it instead of FDA approved medications like cervidel, is because it is so cheap. Since I'm on state insurance I'm sure that's why she would have used that instead of the more expensive, approved brands. Am I wrong on any of this research? If anyone has anymore information on the drug, please let me know.

So after reading all that, I called and canceled the cytotec induction. I set up another regular doctor's appointment on Thursday. Hopefully by that time I'll at least be dilated even just 1cm so if we do deciede to induce, we can try another method besides the cytotec. Is there any other methods of inducing they can do if I'm not dilated? I'm really freaked out by the whole cytotec thing, I want absolutely nothing to do with it. I'm rather upset that she wasn't up front about the risks either. Honestly I'm just freaked out in general. It was just a terrible stressful morning. Ugh.

Is there anything I can do to try and get my cervix to dilate? Anything at all? I just want to go into labor on my own, I don't mind inducing if it comes down to it but it just sounds so much more stressful. At this point I'm just feeling upset and hopeless. Like my body isn't doing what it's supposed to. A friend of mine is pregnant and three weeks behind me, and she's been dilated at 3cm the entire week. I haven't even had any contractions, no braxton hicks, no sign of a mucose plug. Any encouragement would be appreciated. I'm feeling rather down about this whole ordeal. :(
