The placenta also has a pulsating sound similar to the heart beat, and especially if you are thin you might be hearing it.

Not thin, not the placenta. : ) Placenta sounds like my regular big slow heartbeat. This one is very fast, definitely a baby-fast heartbeat.

The placenta should sound like your babies heartbeat depending on where the baby is in perspective to it. I can normally find my son's heartbeat in more than one place. It depends on how you angle the transducer.

I didn't know that about the placenta- I always heard it should sound like the mothers heart beat! Interesting. Thanks!

When I first started using the doppler it was easiest to find it right by the placenta.
