Don't worry! It will be over in a week or so and you will have that little baby in your arms and you won't even THINK about anything else, let alone worry.

If you haven't already been there, please do check out Plus Size Pregnancy for advice on healthy birth options whatever your size. I'm around 300 lbs and had a perfectly healthy baby boy born vaginally.

140/90 is not a super-high b/p. It's borderline high but not really induction-worthy. Are they taking your b/p with a large cuff? If they're not, or if they're using incorrect b/p technique, that in and of itself could be giving you high readings.

Try to go for a walk every day to help your stress levels (and also keep your activity level up).

And remember, there is NO reason you can't have a healthy baby at the size you're at.

Doctors are so hyper-quick to jump on fat women during pregnancy - during my first appointment, an otherwise seemingly sane and rational consultant said, 'Oh, and if you like, once you've given birth, I can refer you to a great bariatric surgeon!'

Why yes, I've managed to not fall dead of a heart attack despite being 300lbs (and would go on to give birth to a healthy baby) and have no other health complications. Yes, please, sign me up for weight-loss surgery!

Am not going to debate the risks/benefits of WLS but the point is, many doctors are fat-phobic. To the OP: seek out a second opinion before accepting intervention. Your weight is NOT a good reason, independent of other significant factors, for anyone to assume that you're not going to have a perfectly healthy baby on your own.

I am sorry you are going through a hard time, but I think your waterbirth is still possible. You said you like to swim, could you do more that to relax you? Do not beat yourself up about your size! What 39 week pregnant woman loves to exercise? At 39 weeks in both of my pregnancies I felt like my baby was going to fall out, and it did not make me want to go for a jog.

You are right that people think plus size women need more interventions because of our size. I was 251 when I delieverd my daughter and any spike in blood pressure, would send the nurse into a tizzy. As if my blood pressure was not going to go up in hard labor!

lol, I was at 251 too at the end of my last pregnancy, and the whole 2nd/3rd trimester they would literally spaz when my bp would go up at all. they sent me to the ER so many times, even though I was medicated.. it got to the point where the ER was like.. What do they want us to do?

Are you drinking the protein shakes? I really, really, in my heart believe that the protein will bring your BP right down and you can deliver just fine.

Picked up the protein shake stuff- I swear it tastes like drinking cake batter.... I am going to try putting strawberrys in with it tomorrow -

But After the apt on Wednesday - we went and got it and I drank and ate a total of 93 grams of protein. Today I had counted 96 grams plus several handfuls of sunflower seeds and some roast that I didn't know how to measure.

I know she said to shoot for 70 grams - I read online that there are several that recommend 80-100 so I am trying to hit the higher end...

I know - The thing is the high blood pressure I think has more to do with everything else and not preclemsia/toxima

Money stress, me not knowing what labor will feel like so I have to examine ever ache and pain and twitch and braxton hicks to see if 'this is it' I don't know if I will just know like people have been saying.

I wish there was a better answer than - you will know. obviously there are people that don't even know they are pregnant. I think I get cramps like once ever 2-4 years or so. I know right now it hurts to change positions, to stand up and walk. I have been getting the braxton hicks and I feel the tensing up -then I get use to the way it feels in a matter of seconds and can only touch my belly and feel that it is hard. not that it is tensing anymore. and then I will feel it tense again - I haven't been able to tell how long they are taking.

I have a meeting with community outreach for electrical assistance... but other than that I am free most of the night.
