I had a doctor's appointment for an ultrasound today to check on the status of my hematoma. I was told that, because this was not a routine appointment, it would cost only $100 instead of the usual $250. I was told this by three different women working at my doctor's office. I arrived for my appointment, waited for a little over half an hour, was called to the back and told that $250 was due. I explained the situation and what had been said to me before. The girl rolled her eyes and slammed her hands down on the table as if I were the dumbest person on the planet and she was sick of explaining stuff to me. This caught the attention of the office manager, who did not do the reasonable thing and upbraid said girl for her rudeness but instead told me (in an awful southern accent, and I have a southern accent, so I can tell you that hers was just the most annoying and brash kind there is) that she is the office manager and if she didn't tell me that, then there was no point in arguing about the price. Besides, she said, I could not just come in for ultrasounds "just like that." It was hard to not sound annoyed as I explained, once again, that I came in on doctor's orders to check on the status of a subchorionic hemmorage/hematoma so this was not me coming in "just like that" for an ultrasound. Instead of getting an attitude with me, the patient, she should perhaps consider talking to her staff. Three seperate members told me that a certain procedure was allowed and would cost x amount of dollars. She told me that it was all too bad but I could not have the ultrasound. I began to cry *because I am an idiot* and she told the girl with the bad attitude to discharge me as a patient.
It's a good thing I don't carry a gun.
I was feeling mighty "passionate" right then.
Is there anything I can DO about this? Is there any place where I can report this?
ultrasound,
subchorionic hematoma,
rants
