Ugh! Exhausted and sick. I have an inner and outer ear infection, a cold, and a urinary tract infection ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Go me. I can't complain though. I have been lucky in the health department. I got taken off of the immuno-suppresant so that's a good sign.
Work has been busy. Our kids just had their Christmas chorus concert. They've been working hard since October. Many parents came, which was good. I felt bad for those who's parents didn't come. They looked sadly as the other families chatted. I made sure I sat with them. The concert went well though. The coup de grace was the 12 days of Christmas. The kids each had a day, in groups or alone, and when it came to that day, they stood up and sang it solo. Other kids did solos. I was proud of one of my girls, she has Autism. She did an amazing job. She's not quiet or withdrawn by any means, in fact she loves music and loves to be loud. But she sang appropriately and beautifully. One of our kids that was born as a crack baby and has horrendous ADHD and behavioral issues, well, he didn't take his meds until 5 mins before the concert so he was dancing and acting a fool. By the time the concert was over, the meds kicked in. Luckily though, he served to entertain rather than harm someone or himself. I met a lot of the families and they are appreciative of all we do. It's really good to be supported. Some days are rough but the good outweighs the bad. I imagine they feel that at home only 1000x more than I have ever imagined.
All the gifts are wrapped and under the tree! Yay. I'm doing a good job NOT giving everyone their gifts early. Go me. Just had a relaxing night playing Uno by the fire with Sam. And of course watching the foosball. Redskins managed to win.
Sam's getting his ski's ready because we're an hr away from wintergreen. I'm ready for some snow tubing! I hope though it snows like hell this weekend so I can get off of work Monday. We're moving classes and I have a feeling this is going to set some of our students with autism into a tizzy. In fact, it already has one. He was freaking out because of moving the boxes. He's a very sweet kid and has come a long way but he is non-communicative at school and has a special case- he has Autism and Downs Syndrome. We have some exceptional children but they amaze me. They overcome so many obstacles. And they're so supportive of us and each other. If there ever was a population of people who saw no social, economical, color bias- this is it. It gives me hope for what we all should achieve!
Anyway, enough of me being mushy. I think I'm going to go spend the amazon gc Jules got me and Sam. THANKS JULES!!
