Truman Capote Tells a Secret!

Oct 20, 2005 00:24

I'm gonna hire my own personal Gerhard, boy I tell you. Today is sort of cheating, because it's more Capote, but I wanted him to have more of a fair shake.

Work at my job is so strange. There are these huge projects I'm being handed with vague deadlines, but then when I sit down to do them, they have just a lot of mind-numbing form-filling. I cleaned out my inbox today, which means I'm caught up with current stuff, the rest is all mostly nebulous.

I'm sleepy, kids. Today was New Comic Day, but there was nothing for me and nothing that really enticed me, except, perhaps, the big Black Hole hardcover. But there are two important birthdays in just a few days, so blowing money on myself feels more than a little trite. Not to mention the new job with the piles of money doesn't pay until next Friday. So...

Today's Good things:
1. Using the Hancock Building to block the chilling wind, trying to read with hands that shake from the cold.
2. Simultaneously watching The Apprentice, reading comics, and hanging with Sara.
3. Sushi.
4. The effortless awesome of my Chicago Card. For that matter, the effortless awesome of an express bus arriving right when we walked up to the stop.
