Those Montgomery Girls

I found the Anne of Green Gables series on DVD with a great price today. Yes! That's been on my to-buy list for ages, but since Sullivan DVDs tend to be pretty pricey, I have been waiting to find a bargain. I never thought I'd find them at a local store, though. I've already watched the first part and consequently not got much done today. *sighs happily* Nothing can be more wonderful than Anne and Gilbert, no amount of sizzly or sexy modern romance. I wish stories like that were still written today.

And I wish someone would put Emily of New Moon on the screen, too. I became a Montgomery fan when I was eight years old, and I've always loved Emily more than Anne (and I still do) because I identify with her more; everything always seemed to come so easily to Anne and she was always the best in everything, so I never really identified with her (which is one of the reasons why I've never been able to identify with Hermione in the Potter world either -she may be bossy and and have bushy hair, but she never fails in anything). Sullivan Entertainment did make a version of Emily once, but that show was so horrendous that I've not been able to watch it past the first couple of episodes. All the poetic, deep spirit of the books was lost, and they changed the story, too. But maybe it's for the better, at least for me; I know that after countless reads, I have Emily and her world so deeply etched into my mind that nobody could make anything close to it. Then again, if the quality was close to the Anne series (not including the strange third movie, which was basically an invented storyline), it would still be wonderful to watch.

Well, I guess I'll hit another part of Anne's story now:-)
