Katy question post

So I’m too lazy to go back and find the wording, but it’s one of those comment and I’ll ask you questions memes 8D
My lj is a little dead these days ;_;

Anyway!
Questions from

1) zombie apocalypse starts tomorrow, what is your weapon of choice

So many variables! Do I know it’s starting tomorrow? Am I able to prepare? How are these particular zombies stopped? Geekishly, a cricket bat 8D But realistically... A rifle would be nice, but ammo could be a problem. A scythe would be great, long reach, sharp blade...hmm....

2) what is your absolute DREAM cosplay and why

I’m doing it! Actually, I’ve done a lot of dream cosplay lately. But anyway. It’s Yue from Card Captor Sakura. There’s a number of reasons why, CLAMP was my introduction to manga, and while it’s not the first thing I read (Magic Knight Rayearth) it’s one of my favourites. And it’s remained one of my absolute favourite series’ all these years. Yue to me is a really tragic character ;_;
When I first started I thought he’d be a lot of fun to costume, but I didn’t know how to do it. And over the years, I’ve never seen it done *well.* It’s a deceptively easy costume.... but I think if I’d seen it done well, I could let it go. But since I haven’t, and it’s been so long (uuuh... ten years... way to make me feel old) I just feel it *needs* to be done XD. I still don’t know how to do it, but I’m gonna make it work!

3) if you could meet anyone at a convention, even people who are dead or unrelated to the things at hand, who would it be and what would you say to them

Just one person?
Since this is fantasy, either Roger Delgado or Jon Pertwee (both dead). But as to what I’d say... no clue! My friends can attest that I’m terrible with “celebrities.” I never know what to say or how to not be weird. “Your (villain) character was so suave it inspired me to try to emulate it!”
Realistically though, I’d love to have a long chat with Ngila Dickson (costume designer for Lord of the Rings)... providing she did a fair amount of the sourcing and patterning herself (often they just draw something pretty and someone else realizes it. I want to talk to the person who made it work).

4) who in your family would you most like to ninja kick to the face

Oh jeez. Who knows. My extended family aren’t much for communication, and they all hold grudges of the most ridiculous nature. So I don’t know, I don’t think any of them really need to be ninja kicked, just shaken like rag dolls. Repeatedly.

5) you are sent back in time to historical period: where and when do you want to be stuck

How far back is “historical”?
It’s really hard! Especially given my inclinations. And being a woman in general.
I’d like to avoid wars >.>
And of course I’d like to be rich.
I really don’t know.
Being stuck anywhere with modern sensibilities would be difficult.

6) where do you see yourself in 10 years if you could do anything and be anything you wanted

Anything is so limitless!
So tossing aside money and science, I would be a space/time travelling hobo.
A slightly more realistic ideal would be travelling the world and being paid for it by some mysterious benefactor (or blogging or something like that). Even more realistically, but still ideally, I will be the personal assistant to some super high up muckymuck. I may not necessarily be a genius business person, but I can Make Things Happen, so that really is my goal.

7) what fictional character has meant the most to you and why

Hmmmmm....
My first inclination is to say Subaru Sumeragi from Tokyo Babylon & X/1999, I have loved his character for over half my life. But it’s half mindless love (bawww he’s so cute and angsty and baaaaw) and half cerebral love (I appreciate what makes him a dynamic character and the plot points in his life). But as far as actual meaning and impact... possibly Jean ValJean from Les Miserables. Or Marcus & Ivanova from Babylon 5. Or Magneto from X-men. They all rose above crazy circumstances to be totally bad ass, and they all made very conscious choices to be where they are, and I respect all those decisions though it’s taken them to different places. It’s that active choice that I love about them.
Plus:
“I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.” - Marcus
