“Ok…hey what’s that,” Vida pointed with one hand at a dark blob flying high in the air a distance from them.
“It…it looks like a …bird,” Madison frowned. “Only its pretty big.”
“There’s more of them!” Chip pointed to a nearby park. “They’re really big!”
“There’s a lot of them,” Xander noted.
Sky’s eyes widened. “Oh no…”
“What?”
“I think I’ve seen those things before. In my history class,” Sky looked pale. “I’m pretty sure those things are called Tengas.”
Conner kicked angrily at the sand. "He should have taken us."
"None of us drove," Kira pointed out.
"And besides, we're guarding the time ship," Ethan added.
"Which we're not allowed into," Conner grumbled.
"Dude, time ship! How is this not cool?"
"Hey." Justin halted next to them. "Wes and Eric are heading back into town for a bit. Anyone want to go?"
Conner tilted his head up and put on his best serious voice. "We're guarding the time ship."
"Something wrong?" Kira asked.
"No. There's a Silver Guardian group in town, and they want to get some equipment...maybe some bodies. Cordon off the ship if we have to go."
"Good idea," Ethan agreed. "But I think we're good.
"OK," Justin agreed, turning away again.
Cole was the next to stop by 'to see if they needed anything', and after him Jason, and after him Kim. She at least had an excuse, as Kira was still strumming Kim's guitar.
"Ok, this is getting tired," Ethan muttered. "We're not the youngest team anymore."
"You're the youngest team here," Max said cheerfully, dropping to lie on his back between Conner and Kira. "Hey, I had a whole year of this. Be glad you don't have to put up with it for that long."
"Max!" Merrick called suddenly, and Max stiffened, rising to his elbows. Everyone currently on the beach was gathered around Jason, who was listening to his cell.
"Ok. We're sending you backup. Don't go near them yet, those things are nasty." Hanging up, he gathered the otehrs in with a glance. "That was Nick. They've spotted Tengas in the park neat the centre of Newtech."
"Tengas?" Billy repeated. "But MASter Vile was defeated years ago."
"Well, someone's summoning them. Who's fought...Cole, most of my team's fought Tengas. We'll go."
Cole nodded. "Can you get there fast enough?"
"Yeah. Two cars and my bike'll do it." He glanced over Cole's head at the Dino team. "You guys stay here with Cole, ok? We'll call if we need help."
"We can fight," Connner offered. "Our gems bonded with us. WE still have our powers."
"No. We've faced Tengas before, we'll go."
"Um...guys?" Danny said suddenly, backing into Taylor and Alyssa. "Do you think that's another one of the team's friends?"
"I think not," Merrick muttered, also backing away.
"Go," Cole said urgently to Jason. "We'll handle this."
"You sure?" Jason asked, but he was already moving off.
"Yeah. We got this."
Cole and his team stanced, Conner and Trent on one side and Ethan, Kira and Justin on the other, ready to face a new enemy, while behind them Jason and his team headed off to face an old one...
