not being smooth can be cute. especially to girls who aren't just into playing the game. i'd never date someone who, at least in the beginning, wasn't at least semi-nervous in wanting to impress me.
again, emphasis on number 3.
being a "great guy" doesn't make you undateable. its a compliment. its an excuse made by those who, for some other reason, don't want to date you, but its still a compliment. being a jerk is only attractive for so long, and the only reason it can be attractive at all is that it gives the impression of hard-to-get. that gets old fast.
(*cough*numberthree*cough*).
if you're going after the wrong people, that means they're the wrong people and you shouldn't be dating them anyways. the right people (or person, as the case may be) will love you not despite the things that you think make you undateable, but because of them (number 3 and all). the right person will love you for not being smooth, for being creepy, for your hair/beard (which maybe [read: hopefully] will be nonexistent by that point), for being intimidating, for being a great guy, for wanting to be loved, and for not meeting new people (and by that point, you'll have found the right person, so going after the wrong ones won't matter anymore).
