I know the feeling, I've been having slight issues myself.

There's only four, to my knowledge. White for healing and protecting, Black for damage and making it more difficult for your opponent to do things, Red I already explained, and... Blue.

Blue is... Blue magic allows you use the attacks of monsters.

Well, knowing my luck, I'd probably be running around the ship casting cures on those hurt than using any elemental magice.

I don't think I've met Vanyel, but I do know Pamela. I'm kind of worried for her.
