Shopping for Wiis used to be easy, now it isn't.

So, Mom's retiring in two months, so I was looking into getting her a Nintendo Wii, since she expressed some interest in it.

Shopping for new Wiis consoles used to be easy, because there was exactly one model.

These days, you've got the Mario Kart black bundle, the Mario Kart White bundle, and the "Holiday" New Super Mario Bros. Wii Black Bundle.

Now, here's the thing. My mom would prefer the white console, and it's getting very hard to find the Mario Kart White Bundle, despite Nintendo's claim that they "will continue to be available."

As for the New Super Mario Bros. Black Bundle, there's no way in hell I'll buy it for her unless it's the last model left on the planet. Nintendo removed GCN compatibility from it without dropping the price as a sad attempt to bolster their bottom line, which is in the pits thanks to the 3DS debacle.

*sigh* This used to be easy.

(Side Note: It doesn't help that the kinds of games she's interested in are Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and Wii Fit. None of which come with the systems any more. In other words, she's not going to play the pack-in game regardless of which one it is. Although, if she *did*, she'd be far more likely to try Mario Kart than New Super Mario Bros. Wii)
