A Cornish Pros Love Story (Part 2 of my Cornwall Hiking Post)

I was hiking in Cornwall for several days. The third day I was reminded of B/D while I had a look in a shop window. It was the moment when I had an idea - a Cornish love story between Bodie and Doyle. Everything you look at in this post is Cornish (except my words ;-).  Let's start!

Oh my aching sides! I don't know what I loved most, Bodie's fairy cakes, the phallic towers or Cow-ley's outdoor office meeting!

You also get the 1000 bonus points for professionals as embroidery (!) and spotting "pwp" on public signage. XD

Now, where are you going for the next holiday? ..We'll be needing the full B&D story for that one as well. *g*

I hate to tell it to you but it is not an embroidery (although it looks like one...). It was painted on the wall of the Red Lion.

PWP was the Prince of Wales Pier.

I like the meals "Faggots in Onion Gravy" very much, too ;-) Btw everything started with the yawning figure!

Next holiday will be South Tirol - B/D have never been there *looks sad*

"Ach mein Gott" is perfect. A funny way of telling nearly the same is the German "My dear swan". It means something like "bloody hell" and its origin is probably some opera by Richard Wagner.

Heh! I might try that one if I'm feeling adventurous. *g* ..What is it in German?

Strangely enough, we also have a bird phrase "stone the crows" that means "bloody hell". It's not in common use these days though.

German for "My dear swan" is "Mein lieber Schwan". It's a slang expression, but nice. I just looked for a vid on you tube, with someone singing the aria. I found a good looking male opera singer ;-). He starts with the three words.

As I saw the sign with the rear garden I wanted to cry out loud... instead I had to suppress every reaction - nobody would have understood me (If I would have explained my meaning of "rear garden", nobody would have understood me either :D)

...And I'm guessing, if you'd explained your meaning of "rear garden" to a random group of people at a tourist stop, they'd suddenly be standing across the other side of the garden. XD Sorry, couldn't help that one! *giggle*
