Friends protect people

So Sherlock was, of course, brilliant again tonight. Even though I know all of the stories already, it's marvelous to see the spin Moffat and his writers put on it. I loved both Martin and Benny's performances. Andrew Scott as Moriarty killed it once again as well. Not sure if fans of the show actually know that in the books, Moriarty actually only appeared in 2 Sherlock Holmes stories. It's a great testament to the character Doyle wrote, that all these many years later Moriarty is the villian that time and again is used as the foil for Sherlock. Probably due to the fact that when Doyle decided to devote more time for 'historic' type novels he decided to kill Sherlock off in a battle royal(at Reichenbach Falls) with Professor Moriarty.

I do wish they'd left it unknown whether Sherlock survived the fall. For those unfamiliar with the stories I think it would have made for a better cliffhanger. They've already been recommissioned for a third series so everyone would've known he was okay. Right? And I know they've *really* been playing up the gay aspect of the Holmes/Watson relationship but I thought it quite funny that they actually had to hold hands while escaping the police and then John saying..."Now people will really talk". Yes, John...yes they will. But let them. You two make a beautiful pair!
