Thank you to the anonymous minion who sent in this Sue!
TITLE:
Black Wind PERPETRATOR:
Koharu Veddette.
SUE-O-METER:
(bad)
FULL NAME: Diane Mina-Black
SPECIES: witch
HAIR: "father's scraggly mane"
EYES: not described
MARKINGS: none described
POSSESSIONS: a cat named Yuki,
ORIGIN: She "is the only child of Sirius Black and Kyoko Mina, an Asian witch that once traveled to England for education". Grew up in Japan, starts Hogwarts just in time for Sirius Black to escape Azkaban.
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Meets the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione at King's Cross. On the train she meets Draco who is typically rude. I'd like to see a Sue meet Draco in a place where Harry has not.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: "She learned how to control her Asian powers of wandless magic at a young age. Her grandparents taught her about potions and Asian style magic so, by the time she went to England at the age of 13, she was already more knowledgeable than many sixth year students at Hogwarts." It's connected to the elements around her at the time. She also has a "special". Specials "are our own unique spell that we can do without the need of a conductor like a rock or breeze." Her's is "Kagami": "to absorb and use any spell that gets used on me".
NOTES: I'd like to know the reasoning behind her being allowed to use underage magic even though she is now under the Ministry of Magic's realm.
SAMPLE:
"Excuse me," Diane asked the three a little tentively. "Are you going to Hogwarts?"
The three turned towards her.
"Yes, dear, are you new?" the older woman questioned Diane, who nodded shyly. "Well, then, it's simple to get on the platform. Just run straight at the wall and you'll get through, but don't be nervous or you will crash."
Diane nodded again and wheeled her cart to face the wall.
"Harry, why don't you go with her?" the older woman asked the dark-haired boy.
"Sure, Mrs. Weasley," he said and wheeled his cart next to Diane's. The two started to walk towards the wall and before Diane knew it, they were through it and on a different platform. The older woman and younger girl came through right after them with the girl pushing a cart as well.
"Thank you," Diane said to the woman with a customary bow for her.
"No problem, dear," the woman said with a smile.
"I'm George," one of the twins introduced with a devilish grin.
"And I'm Fred," the other said as soon as his twin stopped.
"And we're the Weasley twins!" they say together.
"A pleasure," Diane bowed to the two as she did their mother. "My name is Diane Mina-Black."
" 'Black'?" the bushy haired girl asked as the two boys her age raised their eyebrows at each other.
"My mother is Kyoko Mina and my father is Sirius Black," Diane clarified in a quiet tone.
"He had a kid?" Harry asked Mrs. Weasley in complete shock.
"I knew he liked a girl, but I had no idea he had a kid," Mrs. Weasley answered uncertainly. She turned back to the confused girl. "How old are you, Diane?"
"I am about to turn 14," Diane answered, getting a little nervous at their questions. Mrs. Wealsey looked at her closely.
"I see the resemblance," Mrs. Wealsey muttered. "Poor dear, you got your father's scraggly mane."
"You knew my father?" Diane asked Mrs. Weasley eagerly.
"Of course, dear, but it's almost time for you all to go," Mrs. Weasley said hurriedly. She turned to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. "Take care of her and Ginny now. Have fun. And Fred, George, do not get into any more trouble!"
"Then how can we have fun?" the twins chuckled as the teenagers all headed for the scarlet train.
"I'm Harry Potter, by the way," Harry introduced as he, Hermione, Ron, and Diane entered a compartment. "These are my best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger."
"It's pleasure to meet you," Diane replied as she sat down next to Hermione across from Ron and Harry.
"So, where are you from Diane?" Hermione asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"I was raised in Japan by my mother's parents," Diane said with a soft smile. Suddenly, the door to the compartment opened to reveal a slender, platinum blonde boy with a sneer on his face.
"Oh, it's just trash in here," he commented before he noticed Diane. "Draco Malfoy, miss. And I'd leave this compartment, if I were you. You wouldn't want to make friends with 'The Boy Who Lived' or you might get hurt."
"I can make my own friends, thank you very much Draco," Diane said, disdain clear in her voice.
"Wrong thing to say," Draco snickered as Crabbe and Goyle entered the compartment from raiding the snack trolley.
"I'm not scared of two brainless masses of muscle," Diane retorted, standing gracefully. Crabbe and Goyle smiled indentical goofy grins. Crabbe came forward to tackle her, but was thrown back by an unknown force. Everybody, but Diane, looked around to see if she had pulled out a wand or some other magical instrument.
"You might want to reconsider fighting someone who isn't restricted to using a wand for magic," Diane chuckled coldly. Goyle looked at her with wide eyes. Diane flicked her hands free of her long, white sleeves and raised them to where her palms were in Goyle's and Draco's faces. "Now, good-bye."
Draco and Goyle were flung back by the same force that Crabbe had been flung back with and the compartment door shut behind them.
"How-?" Hermione asked after the trio sat in shock for a few minutes.
"Asian witches and wizards can use wandless magic," Diane explained slowly.
"You mean you can just do magic without even trying?" Ron asked, awe clear on his face and in his voice.
"As long as I have an element near by," Diane chuckled.
"What do you mean?" Hermione asked. Diane looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Like when I pushed back those bullies, it was because of the window being open and the air coming inside," Diane explained. "Or a water related spell needs a drop of liquid or fire needs a spark and earth needs a mineral."
"Cool," Ron sighed in awe.
"But what about normal spells?" Harry wondered. Diane looked at him with a confused look. "Like charms or transfiguration?"
"Oh, well, that's where our 'specials' come into play," Diane shrugged. It was the trio's turn to look at her in a confused way. " 'Specials' are our own unique spell that we can do without the need of a conductor like a rock or breeze. Like one of my friends has a 'special' that allows him to turn into a bear."
"What's yours?" Harry asked as he and Ron leaned forward to listen better.
"It's called 'Kagami'," Diane told them. "Which I do believe means 'Mirror' in English. Kagami allows me to absorb and use any spell that gets used on me."
"So if we jinxed you, you'd be able to jinx us back without a wand," Hermione concluded with a knowing look on her face.
"Yes, but I won't have the jinx placed on me," Diane clarified.
"So, Kagami works as a shield and a weapon." Hermione finished, her intelligent eyes seemed to twinkle with the new knowledge being processed by her mind.
"Exactly," Diane nodded with a smile towards her new friend.
