I actually find this fascinating-Usually it's Harry that's the SUPERPOWERED GOD MODE SUE and Hermione that's the "ship with author's lust object" Sue. It's interesting to see that.
And why not just Sueify Harry and Ron instead of making up new, bland Sue characters?

And only now do I realize this is also a Newt/Hermione fic..

Remember when Inheritance! Harry and Dark Lord! Harry fics were super en vogue? Or are they still? Just like godmode! Hermione, these always come from people who fundamentally misundertand the central themes of Harry Potter.

I believe they're still in vogue. How can they understand the central themes when they don't seem to understand how people do and don't act in real life?

Oh, I still them all the time at FF.N. My pairing involves characters that usually wind up as Harry's Cheerleaders since the author makes Harry hate the Weasleys aka the only real family he ever had.

If a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, shouldn't a bland Sue by any other name be just as bland? As far as I can tell, Harry and Ron aren't necessary to advance this story. They're used as generic sneering background characters.
