I'm sick of romantic!Snape, and rich!Snape. I'm sick of secretlybeautiful!Snape. And I'm also sick of Really-on-Dumbledores-side-he-asked-me-to-kill-him-honest!Snape. Especially when the above is served with a helping of wangst and Snape is crying silent silver tears and cutting himself. I like Snape because he a jerk, because he is self-serving, ( Read more... )

The ring killed Dumbledore; it's only thanks to Snape that he hung on all year. And the potion would eventually have been fatal. And then Harry would be emotionally crippled blaming himself. And, unlike how his parents, Sirius, Cedric, and Dumbledore died, he would be DIRECTLY to blame for this one. That is not something he needs to deal with at the moment ( ... )

And having said and agreed to everything you say, I think the OP is right - Harry won't believe him in any case.

But yes, I think Severus Snape is *FAR MORE* Dumbledore's Man than Harry Potter could ever hope to be, because, AFAIC, Snape does what he does with his eyes wide open - Harry rushes into it blindly.

In my defence (and in beyond_pale's defence) - Jo apparently sees it this way, too.

I couldn't agree with you more on this.

Yes, yes, yes everyone has made a good case for this. But still would Harry think Snape is telling thew truth in the end. And can see Snape Wangsting over in the way I described.

I honestly don't think that Harry will believe Snape...that is definitely true. As much as I love Harry, he has already proven to be hard-headed and I know that if there is ANY evidence given to him of Snape's so-called "innocence" Harry will do anything in his power to prove the evidence faulty. And even if he does turn out to believe it, he would never acknowledge the fact. His hatred for Snape is too deep ( ... )

Yeah, he might need a hug but I pity anyone who tries giving him said hug.

Yes, yes. I've tried over and over to beleivie in the above theory. Snape's my favorite character, and was I shocked when it happened truly shocked.
I can never read the chapter where it happened. But even if Dumbledore knew, and permitted Snape to kill him. I don't think when Harry caught Snape. Harry would beleivie him. Nope, no matter what Snape said. Or evidence to back it up. Harry hates Snape and I think will kill him. Maybe afterward he'd discover Snape was double-triple-agent and good guy all along.
