Who: Dan Ryuichi, Kawasaki-san
Where: Kawasaki-san's office/study
When: Tonight
What: A serious discussion and a serious request. Dan Taichi must be found, regardless of means.
Rating: G
Comments: We're moving towards the conclusion, here. Also, Dan's father is an... interesting... man.

"Kawasaki-san." The man stepping into the room radiated a definite aura of danger, yet he was also almost impossibly beautiful. Kawasaki knew better than to let such appearances fool himself. They both knew that. Despite their long acquaintance, they both knew these meetings were always a risk, a gamble. The head of a pureblood vampire family, one of the most accomplished hunters of all times - it was clear to both that should it come to a battle, there would be no telling who would survive. If either.

"Dan-san." Kawasaki nodded, indicating a chair for his guest to sit in. "I was brought under the impression you had something urgent to discuss with me."

"Straight to the business as usual, I see. Very well. I wish for little pleasantries, as well." Dan-san produced a small piece of paper from his pocket, setting it on Kawasaki's desk. It was a picture, he noticed, of a young boy who bore more than a passing resemblance to the man sitting across from him. "I need your people to find Taichi."

Kawasaki's eyes widened just a fraction. "...You wish us to target your son?" he asked incredulously. Surely the other couldn't be serious.

"No. I'm asking you to find him before he becomes a target." At his questioning gaze, Dan-san just looked sternly at him. "Taichi... ran away from home about a week ago, and has yet to return. I don't know exactly when he last fed, but I do know he didn't take his blood supplies with him as he left."

Wait. This was... not good, was it. "Do you mean to tell me," Kawasaki said slowly, "that there is a teenage pureblood vampire out there somewhere, possibly going crazy with starvation even as we speak?"

"I do." Dan-san's eyes were serious as ever. "And I need you to find him before the worst happens."

"Why not look for him yourself?" Kawasaki raised his eyebrows questioningly. "I should think you have the influence to mobilize quite a few people to search for you."

"Oh, I already am doing so. However, not only are you hunters much more skilled in actually finding our kind, but there is one thing all those vampires looking for Taichi do not possess." He looked straight at Kawasaki, his expression unwavering. "The capability to kill him if he has already committed some unforgivable crime."

"You're asking me to have your only son killed?" Kawasaki leant backwards. "Even coming from a beast, that is shocking."

"No. I'm asking you to find him before that is necessary." Dan-san crossed his arms across his chest. "That is also why I want you to assign this task to hunters who won't just kill him at the first opportunity simply to be on the safe side, as I know many of you are wont to do. However, if he has already crossed the line in his desperation..." He paused briefly before finishing, "I would rather see him dead than destroying himself with guilt."

"You are crazy." Mutual respect be damned, for Kawasaki could not stop the words from leaving his mouth. "I would have thought you'd have kept us well away from the matter and tried to hide everything if your son actually did something. Not that I'm wishing for you to hide a potential threat, but isn't that the most natural thing for a parent to do?"

"I don't think you understand." Dan-san looked at him as though he were some insignificant little insect. "My son... is an empath. If he attacked a human, he would personally experience all the pain and terror of either the turning or the painful death as his victim succumbed to the venom of his bite. I will not allow him to go through that pain for the rest of his life."

"An empath? Is he only a receiving one, or can he affect others as well?" Kawasaki looked at the picture of the boy. He looked utterly harmless... "And how powerful is he?"

"Yes, he can also affect other people. And as for his powers, he is a pureblood," sighed Dan-san. "My only son. The heir to my name. He can send hardened men running away like frightened rabbits with merely a gaze." He, too, gazed at the picture before adding, "You might want to warn your hunters about that. He was also in a rather... chaotic... emotional state as he left, and I honestly cannot predict how that will affect his control."

"I do hope you realize just how impossible a task this is." But if he did, he wouldn't have come, now would he. "You're asking me to locate a child who is probably capable of taking down some of my best men, with little more to go along with than simply this picture of him. In addition, I should choose hunters who won't hesitate to kill him if necessary, but only then. Why should I even do this? Why no just let him run free and than target him when he eventually loses control?"

"Because you can't take responsibility for the lives he might take when you could have prevented it all. Because he is a pureblood, and if you had him killed for attacking humans you would have your hands full with newly turned vampires going insane one by one. Because you owe me as much." Dan-san's tone lowered just a level or two. "Because letting him grow into an adult would probably be your only chance of ever having a vampire who fully understands the experiences of a turned yet has the influence of a pureblood."

Kawasaki looked at the pureblood for a moment. Finally, he asked, "And if we try, and do not succeed?"

"I have faith in you." Dan-san smirked somewhat humourlessly. "If you send those you find the most suitable... I have some hope that the situation might yet be solved without any unnecessary blood being spilled."

And then, with little more, Dan-san was suddenly gone from the room, traceless in his steps as though he'd never been there at all.
