Bane wanted to be anywhere but where he was. He stood with back pressed to wall, arms crossed over a chest covered in the tailored darkness of the ebony suit his savior insisted he wear for the occasion. Savior wasn't quite the word he would apply to the classy lady that had saved his ass with a deceptively serene smile. A smile that hid a heart of purest evil, which he was as certain of as he was certain that had to be the twentieth person Saeki Kojirou had joined on the dance floor that night.
He frowned when he felt eyes watching him from somewhere, senses attuned to his surroundings even if he didn't want them to be. To be so gave far too much importance to the creatures flittering from person to person, chatting amiably and laughing the night away. Importance he didn't want to attribute to the ranks of those he had joined thanks to a walk home during the darkest hours of night and carelessness on his part. He never should have taken that short cut. He knew it went through the worst part of town, but it would have shaved fifteen minutes off his walk and would have saved him from being grounded for life.
Now, he wished he could turn back time… but since he couldn't he would just have to settle for ruining someone else's night as his life had been ruined. Besides, hadn't her written missive instructed him to drink, dance, and be merry? Though, he supposed she meant for him to socialize with a female or two and not the dual-color haired aristocrat he stalked toward suddenly. Bane didn't know what he was planning until the moment he towered above Saeki and his partner from behind, cruel smile leveled on the simpering young woman gushing in the vampire's ear. "Pardon me, but I believe this dance is mine." He drawled to her, hand rising to curl almost possessively over the shoulder a delicate feminine hand rested over.
His fingers brushed along hers, gentle despite the cruelty that lurked in the darkness of brown eyes and the smile he kept glued in place drawn forth just for the benefit of setting her nerves clambering with uncertainty and fear. Taking this route was the smartest thing to do as no one could say he had done anything untoward, because he wasn't. His tone was polite, his hand gentle. If she started babbling about the supposed darkness of his smile then she'd be looked upon with pity and thought quite off her rocker. And, damn, he was picking up far too many manipulative habits lately.
If any other voice had whispered those words in his ear Saeki Kojirou would have smiled and gladly accepted the change in dance partner since he loved attention. Since that voice belonged the Bane, his smile faltered only a moment before he held it in place and nodded to the girl he had been dancing with in his approval of the switch around. He promised to try and seek her out later if he could. It wouldn’t do to start a fight in front of the entire school and at least two purebloods he had already spotted waltzing around the room so he was stuck with humouring the jackass that seemed to enjoy ruining his fun.
“You just can’t get enough of me, can you? It’s understandable since it happens to everyone. But I hadn’t thought you would cut in line to get a dance with me.” Saeki continued to be nice as he could be though he was slightly mocking and insulting at the same time but he was convinced his smile would keep anyone watching from interfering or believing anything was amiss between the two vampires of different social classes.
"I was positively dying with need of you." Bane countered sarcastically, his smile smugly arrogant as he watched the young woman huff when she thought they weren't looking and then stomp away. Once they were as alone as two people could be on a dance floor full of other couples, he turned his attention to the aristocrat he drew into his arms. Lowering one hand to Saeki's slender hip, he dragged the much smaller vampire to him tucking the petite body snuggly into his with that same smug smile turned his way.
“One could only hope,” it was a simple reply still said through a smile especially given the fact that while Bane annoyed the hell out of him and could be a pest, Saeki wasn’t sure he was ready to wish death upon the vampire just yet. As much as he hated having to be so close to that thorn in his side again he did so anyway even while wondering about how smoothly and effortlessly he was guided into such a position as if both of them didn’t mind it as much as they said they did.
That was a thought that scared him more than an angry pureblood! It was quickly shoved aside to make room for more teasing of the vampire that would likely want to lead in their dance. Saeki would allow that but he was leading their conversation. “Now, the real reason why you’re stealing my time when you are always so keen to keep me away?”
“Aww, you say that like you are positively dying to get near me." Bane countered smoothly, his arrogant smile widening. He slid his free hand into Saeki's, curled long fingers around those delicate bones that could so easily be broken with just the right amount of pressure and twist, and then with that same arrogant smug smile in place led them off in the dance he had stolen quite unapologetically and with so little remorse.
Gracefully, he moved them through the intricate steps, his gaze lingering on the blue eyes he held within his sights. It was on their third spin and flowing glide into the next series of motions that he struck, leaning in close and dipping his head so a mouth could hover inches above the same ear he had licked his way to days before. "I'm sorry. Is this better?" he huskily whispered into the curvature, lips brushing over soft flesh just as the heat of his breath did.
“I think you’re referring to yourself more...” words and breath froze in his throat when lips softly met an ears, reminding Saeki of the night he had went to Bane’s to get him to keep the noise down. The low level vampire was close to tasting him again, he was sure! But he wouldn’t be foolish enough to do so in such a public and crowded place unless he snapped and couldn’t control himself but that didn’t seem too likely. Instead the smaller vampire carried on like it didn’t bother the hell out of him and it was perfectly normal to be nibbled on-which, it sort of was given how flirtatious he was and how often he did some nibbling and encouraged it in return.
“...than to me. You’re the one that came to me this time and you’re the one holding me close,” it didn’t matter that Saeki had instinctively returned the gesture to make the dancing all the more smooth and natural because he wasn’t the one that had initiated the dance and sought the other out.
"Ahh, but only one annoyed with being kept away would make note of the being kept away." Bane pointed out helpfully, amusement alive in the voice that graced Saeki's ear, just as a quick swipe of tongue along the lobe did. He stole the small taste of flesh quickly and effortlessly, letting the tip of his tongue lazily swirl over soft skin before he deprived his companion of the sensation.
The smaller vampire did seem to have an aversion to such advances when coming from him based off his last reaction to being licked in his bedroom, Bane mused. And anything that got Saeki's back up and ruffled his feathers was worth repeating, even in a room full of his supposed betters. If nothing else, he could bank on the brat being too well bred to let his anger push him into a scene and that in itself would be amusing as he could just imagine all the things he could get away with doing right then. "And, again, you sound like you're annoyed over being deprived of my closeness. If that's not close enough, darlin', then let me remedy the oversight." He purred with a quick nip to the fleshy lobe still wet from his caress, his large hand tugging Saeki that much closer to his body and holding on that much tighter.
Bane was seriously starting to get under his skin with all those comments and the way he kept licking him like he was a favourite meal that he couldn’t resist. It wouldn’t do to mention that thought out loud considering the way it was thrown back at him so Saeki merely made an ‘accidental’ misstep that landed his foot stomping down on Bane’s. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry. I guess I shouldn’t be looking for a friend while dancing.” He used the excuse of trying to find Fuji before the night was over to cover his malicious attack on tender toes even as he wondered if he had enough force behind his meagre weight to make a difference through a shoe. At least he got a move in regardless of how effective it was.
Although Saeki was certain Bane would be an ass and counter it in some irritating way. With a quick glance to the guy in charge of the music, Saeki hoped the song would end soon and he could gracefully leave his barbarian partner behind and find the human that had to be responsible for the photo of Eiji he now had in his pocket that would likely be key to their game.
"Think nothing of it, love. I'll forgive you your clumsiness as I'm such a forgiving soul." Bane countered through gritted teeth. His instincts told him the stomp of foot was deliberately done, but if Saeki wanted to get his blows in under the guise of being clumsy then he would counter each one with far more devious attacks that would leave neither bruise nor evidence of his hand upon fair skin.
"So forgiving it has already been wiped from my mind, overshadowed by your titillating taste and oh-so-enjoyable company." It hit him as he murmured the falsehoods; just how he could get even for the aching toes. The thought drew a wicked grin from lips nuzzling at Saeki's ear, before those same lips grazed along the line of jaw seeking out the mouth he soon stole into a slow, lingering kiss. Bane told himself he was just using the kiss as a means to get even with the brat he held so tightly against him with one hand resting on a jut of hip, his fingers kneading firmly at soft flesh through Saeki's shirt. But he knew it for the lie that it was when his other hand slid along the curve of arm, grazing first the top of a hand, the delicate wrist his fingertips rested at for a single second, before moving upward in a lazy crawl, until finally those fingers tenderly caught Saeki's chin between them.
He wasn't seeking a means for revenge, but using the kiss to distract the smaller vampire from the way he tilted his head first left and then right, lips hungrily moving over the mouth he plundered without remorse just so the miniscule heartbeats of time taken between each breath he drew afforded him the opportunity to pull back and allow brown eyes a leisurely journey over the pale skin he had spent over a week worrying about having marred with his roughness.
Being an asshole would be so much easier if his pesky conscience would go the fuck away!
Saeki’s retort that was just as sarcastic as Bane’s words just then had been were stolen from him and kicked out of his mind when he found lips on his. What the hell was the guy doing? He knew the bastard wanted him! Not that he could blame him considering how everyone that met him fell instantly but Saeki was convinced once the shock wore off that it was all an act just to rile him up again or to win a way to his vein. As convincing as those touches were to an outsider watching them-and even to him-the smaller vampire still couldn’t believe it was anything other than another trick and way to annoy him just as everything always seemed to be between them.
But why did his body not want to listen to him and insisted on giving into the urge to cling tightly to the shirt fingers could so easily dig into? Saeki ignored that urge and the one that had him kissing back the brunette towering above him and just relaxed slightly to make it look a bit more natural to those watchers again and waited it out. When a chance came to speak when air was needed, it was grabbed with a, “contrary to popular belief, I don’t just give my lips to anyone. You’re one of the lucky.” Bane was even luckier considering Saeki had yet to end their dance and walk off with only a glare sent at him.
"Liar," Bane breathed as he pulled away, his lips hovering still over those swelling from the force of his kiss, no matter how gentle it had been. "Your true-blue fans might believe that nonsense but save yourself the breath and energy that it takes to utter such boldfaced lies when you're with me."
Idly, he traced his thumbs over the chin he had held in his grasp weeks prior. There wasn't any bruising, not a single mark to mar the perfection of that skin; not that his eye could see anyway. That wasn't a guarantee that there hadn't been, however. Unaware of the frown that furrowed his brow, Bane once more traced his gaze over Saeki's chin, jaw, and further still along his neck remembering how he had so easily laid hands on the smaller vampire from holding him still to lazily licking his way up the pulse his eyes could so easily stray to, if he allowed it. And, boy, did they want to! He was hungry. There wasn't any denying that as the howling chaos of his thirst for blood had not eased over the weeks, no matter how many of those fucking tablets he swallowed. However, he was a better man than that and wouldn't be giving into the driving need to sink his fangs into that oh-so-lovely neck. Or so the vampire told himself as fingers gently massaged at soft skin as if to ease away any ache the petite creature had been gifted with at his hands.
What was with this guy? He could be so annoying with the constant belief that others were what he wanted them to be and not what they really were. So what if maybe he was a little more liberal with his kisses than he had just stated? It didn’t mean he was a whore kissing everyone he came across and then bedding them. Also, what was all the touching his face and eyeing him about? Saeki was beginning to feel like he was on the auction block and Bane was checking him out for any faults that might ruin his chance at a showing or in breeding the little vampire. With a jerk of his head to the side to get the hint across that he didn’t like the hand holding him no matter how delicate the touch, Saeki felt a surge of added annoyance at the duelling sides to Bane. Was he an ass, a flirt, actually interested, hungry, or an ass playing games with him?
Any which way, Saeki was glad when it sounded like the song was winding down and he could make that graceful exit. “Looks like your time is about up, darling.”
"So it seems, princess, so it seems." Bane answered with a frown for how his touch was eluded. Annoyed, even though he had no true reason to be and very unwilling to admit just why, he dropped his hands away from Saeki and without another word turned on his heel. Bane left his dance partner standing amidst the dancers remaining on the floor before the song ended, drawing his time to a premature end without a backwards glance for the vampire he all but snubbed in those moments in much the same way Saeki had snubbed him with the shaking free of his touch.
Why was he feeling like he had just been dumped? No one walked away from Saeki Kojirou like that! Dumbfounded but still in control of his senses, Saeki held it together and stopped himself from gawking at the back of the retreating vampire. He couldn’t quite pinpoint why Bane had left so suddenly but it was probably another mind game-which was something he was supposed to be doing, damn it!
Suspecting it was to simply get away from such temptation in a sexy package, Saeki stopped giving his retreating dance partner attention and turned back to his quest to find his friend. He would, of course, find Fuji, just like Bane would think about him all night. It was only natural to think of things you craved and with all the touching and licking his fellow vampire kept doing to him, it was obvious he was craved.
That logic and happy thought that he had snared yet another had Saeki smiling as he glanced around the room again before grabbing a cute little ebony-haired girl to dance with. As always, it was good to be him.
