Comments: Posting this up even though we never officially decided if it was over or not. I think it ends nicely on Atobe's tag.
Saeki Kojirou looked around the room he had managed to sneak into. It seemed clear of obstacles in the form of other vampires and cameras so he moved along the shadows that hugged a wall until the door of a small cell was reached. A glance to the hand he held was given before looking up at the owner. When Hiyoshi heard the plan to sneak down to taunt and generally annoy Atobe, he had to come along as well. Unfortunately for Hiyoshi, Saeki’s powers weren’t mastered enough to have the shadows cover them both without touching. But with them holding hands, Hiyoshi became an extension of himself and was able to cover them both.
Hiyoshi probably still believed he was lying so he could cop a feel.
Indicating with a squeeze of the hand that he wouldn’t let go and blow their cover just yet because it would be more entertaining that way, Saeki grinned and finally broke the silence, “and so the diva’s grand finale earned him a grand view and rave review.”
Hiyoshi was convinced that Saeki was using his powers maturity level as yet another reason to touch him for some reason. It was unusual for the teen to let someone touch him, but Saeki seemed to have found a way around it. Hiyoshi wasn't sure yet how that had happened. But the idea of getting to torment Atobe while he was being confined? Priceless.
Hiyoshi was glad that the shadows hid his grin at Saeki's little intro to the quarantined vampire.
"Now, now Saeki - it's possible that the Idiot was just an idiot and didn't realize that he was being such a naughty vampire." He smirked, still hidden in the shadows, "After all, that would require common sense."
Great, just what Atobe had needed - annoying company. It was bad enough to be stuck in the room and now someone had to figure a way into the place. Then again he could have just been hallucinating sounds, but he didn't want to count himself as insane just yet.
Besides, he deserved much more than being stuck forever with the two particular voices he heard.
"And what brings you pathetic morons here?" Atobe asked, with his normal, cold tone. "Missed me already?"
“I was trying to imagine what it would be like to be someone that didn’t have me in their life,” Saeki continued babbling on, not at all fazed by Atobe’s words or tone and kept his own light and amused, “it would be a sad existence and one even you shouldn’t have to deal with.” The one thing about staying hidden in the shadows that annoyed Saeki right then was the fact the incarcerated vampire couldn’t see the utterly pleased smirk he wore. But the fact that Atobe might think he was insane by only hearing voices made up for that small loss.
Hiyoshi rolled his eyes and sighed to himself, these two together were amusing but he had a feeling he would have a headache before this little jaunt was over. The idea that it seemed like Atobe was under the impression that it was possible he was just hearing things though...
THAT was too amusing for words really.
"Pathetic morons? Who got thrown in here for fighting over something inane? Was it us? Why no...it was you Idiot." Hiyoshi chuckled, "You wouldn't want to be all alone here would you? Think of how much you would miss us."
Talking to nothing was rather disturbing, but Atobe kept himself calm. Either it was some aristocrat power or then he had fallen asleep and dreamt about having company with him. What a nightmare. His mind had to be a masochist for coming up things like this.
"I don't need anyone. I was born alone and I might as well live alone. You should know that, Wakashi", Atobe said and looked up at the ceiling. "So do me a favour and go away. Your services aren't needed."
"My services? You make it sound so cheap Keigo. Honestly - not winning you any points here Keigo." Hiyoshi was amused to a point, but he was going to make the other vampire pay for making him feel cheap.
"And way to drown in self pity there...because I hate to say this but that last bit sounded a bit like you were having a bit of a diva queen moment - and without even an audience."
Saeki eyed Hiyoshi with a slender brow perking in interest. He wanted to ask about the services they were talking about and mention it made the man he held hands with sound like a whore but he suspected it was the blood transactions they had going that he managed to get Hiyoshi to confess to not too long ago.
That wasn’t the point of their trip; harassing Atobe was. “He has the voices in his head though,” Saeki liked the idea of staying hidden a little longer to play up the disembodied voices and it sounded like Hiyoshi was on the same page. “and we’ll never leave him despite his pleas to live and die alone.”
"Well, then I guess not only did he queen out - he did it for no real reason since as long as we are here then he isn't REALLY alone." Hiyoshi said in an almost mocking sing song tone of voice, "And now that he has made me sound and feel like a cheap whore...I will just get more annoying to him."
He smirked into the shadows, "Maybe we should sing him to sleep?" He started to hum, "I have a lovely bunch of coconuts..."
"Some annoying voices in my head, then. Doesn't bother me, though. Just means I get out of the whole school into a mental institution once I get out of here", Atobe said and closed his eyes. "And do keep singing Wakashi... though I'm pretty sure your ugly voice will only keep me awake."
Under the surface he wasn't so calm. What had Atobe ever done to deserve such cruelty? Right, made someone half-blind. Of course he knew that it wasn't a real part of his punishment - whatever it was. It just felt like everyone and everything was against him now. Atobe started wondering about how many fangirls he was going to lose because of the rumours and then laughed. Silly thoughts. Yet amusing and quite calming.
"Maybe that was the point. What is the fun of being a voice in someone's head if they are sleeping?" Hiyoshi said in what he thought was a reasonable tone of voice. His fingers tightened briefly around Saeki's to keep him from letting go and stepping out of the shadows.
"If I REALLY wanted to be evil I would have you visited by the ghosts of queen outs past. But I am not. See? I am nice."
"It depends on how you interpret the word 'nice'. From my point of view you're nothing but an asshole who wants to laugh at the quarantine kid and make his life miserable."
Atobe wished that the voices would either go away or prove to be something else than his imagination. He didn't want to say these things out loud because if the two idiots were really there he'd get laughed at. Not that it would have mattered. His pride had already been hurt. The punishment wasn't only the quarantine, it had been much more than that.
“That might be slightly true, but I’m really just here to see how you’re holding up without any luxuries and comforts you’re used to,” Saeki had just recovered from Hiyoshi’s humming of a song he felt would be in his head for the rest of night and felt he needed to be a part of the conversation again.
“You could always tell us your version of events and try to win us over or silence us instead of being so boringly dramatic that it only encourages us to mock you further,” was that pity? Hardly. That was a curiosity to hear all the details and not much else.
Atobe sighed and wondered if he should keep talking to the empty room. Talking to himself was never his favourite hobby. Then again, he didn't have anything else to do, so he might as well continue.
"It was only a normal fight. Chitose wanted to fight so I took the challenge and went to meet him. We fought with our full powers until I nailed him to a tree and then threw some sharp ice into his eye", Atobe said and then shrugged. "He had the intention of hurting me badly so I didn't see a reason to control my powers. Then Dan-sama showed up and I ended up here after he used his powers on me... he's rather scary when he gets mad."
Hiyoshi rolled his eyes and sighed softly. Fighting with powers was tricky and trust Atobe to not hold back and to get caught doing so. Idiot. He looked Atobe over curiously, "Intention to harm and actually doing it are two very different things Atobe. You know that."
He wondered how much longer the vampire would keep talking to no one. It was amusing to watch him get more and more frustrated by the seemingly bodiless voices.
"Yes, I know that. But remember that it could be me injured right now and Chitose locked up in here. It was a close call... then the idiot got himself stuck in that tree. Must have hurt. The icedaggers went right through his skin and flesh..."
Well, he had a time when he thought he'd lose and since he didn't know someone was going to come and stop them he freaked out and took action by throwing the daggers... it was pure luck that he didn't miss. Not that anything of it mattered anymore. Chitose was half-blind, Atobe was quarantined and going insane. Nothing would change by thinking what could have happened.
“You almost sound like you’re sorry you did it,” Saeki was admittedly a little shocked at Atobe’s tone. He didn’t hate the vampire and didn’t think he was the worst creature to ever live but Atobe’s ego was as healthy as his own and that meant remorse and sympathy didn’t happen often. Perhaps incarceration and time to think on what he had done were actually good for the aristocrat and it was bringing to life a new part that not many had the chance to see.
Hiyoshi nodded to himself and felt the respect for the other one increase a bit. For him to admit in that round about way his remorse. This time alone had done Atobe some good. For that Hiyoshi was very grateful. The boy was still an idiot in his eyes. But that was personal reasons as well. Not just based on Atobe himself.
"Maybe all this time talking to himself has actually done him some good. Who would have thought all these years all he needed was some quarantine." Hiyoshi said with a somewhat amused sigh.
"I'm sorry I did that and got myself into this mess", Atobe said and then shifted his position from sitting to laying down. The voices would disappear while he slept. And even if they wouldn't, sleeping wouldn't hurt anyone... besides he had nothing else to do while he was there. "But I'm not sorry that it was Chitose who got hurt. I wouldn't go back in time to save him."
“Now there’s the Atobe we’re used to,” Saeki was beginning to feel sorry for the vampire he always teased but didn’t really hate until Atobe opened his mouth when it was better left shut. He wondered if he would ever have an enemy that inspired such hate and lack of real remorse. He didn’t think it was likely since not even Bane had angered him to such a level with all the crappy things he had done.
Squeezing Hiyoshi’s hand and then loosening the hold to get the question across about whether his friend wanted to show himself or not, Saeki eyed the vampire that looked like he was about to try for some sleep. “Maybe we should leave Sleeping Beauty to his rest now?”
Hiyoshi wasn't in the mood to reveal himself. It was more amusing to him to let Keigo think he was loosing his mind with the mocking voices in his head. After all, Hiyoshi was of the mindset that he was nuts anyway.
"Perhaps we should. He will need it for when he gets out."
Saeki tightened his hold again once it was clear Hiyoshi was happy where he was. “We can always come back another time to check up our boy,” they had had their fun and now seemed like the right time to leave Atobe alone before they pushed him too far or they lingered too long and a pureblood found them. Saeki didn’t have any desires to share the cell with the diva.
“Sweet dreams, darling princess.”
Atobe closed his eyes and didn't even bother to check if they'd show themselves at the last minute. If it was someone’s doing, then they probably wouldn't show themselves and ruin the whole thing. They'd want him to think he's really hearing things and going mad.
"Good night. Don't get lost while leaving my mind or whatever."
