Friday night (@ Toast) was ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome. I feel sort of weird for having such a great time knowing Jenna left early because she was not feeling well / feeling 'it', but seriously, I had a fucking amazing time. The crowd was young and nonexistent by midnight. I was in my own little world -- my own little village of awesomeness. I consumed insane amount of liquor and danced endlessly. I agree whole heartedly that we should go (at least) every two weeks.
I love it because it's so laid back. You can dance with your clan and everything and everyone around you fades to black. Yet, at the blink of an eye, you have twenty people around you having an unbelievable time. Like the girl wearing the Ramones shirt dancing on the plywood platform behind us. She was going mental. It's always a little surreal to witness other people being raw and letting go. Even if that experience lasts a millisecond and is soon swept away by a flailing arm and a hip sway.
And the fact that I am completely immune to hang-overs? Astonishing to say the least.
Finn and Cassie spent the night upon returning from our debacle. Finn slept in our bed (or rather, slept on the wall) and Cassie nested on the couch. We visited the new apartment Saturday morning and sang and fawned over its acoustics. Finn announced that she wanted to go bowling. In the apartment. And bring blankets. And sleep over. On the floor. With nothing else. Except for an abundance of alien stories and three fine little ladies by her side.
I promised Becky/Mom/Dad that I would help put up Christmas decorations. So at 1:15pm, I dropped Cassie off at home and was promptly greeted by twenty degree weather in Methuen. It took me and Becky two hours to put up one tree of lights, two angels, and a penguin. Becky slaughtered two stakes, and when it came time to plus things in to make them work, it was as if the blind was leading the blind. I had fun.
Later that evening, Finn + Maeg + I stayed true to Saturday ritual and vegged the fuck out fab-style even though there was nothing on TV. Ashleigh appeared around 6:30pm to 'pick Finn up', but got sucked into staying for an extended period of time. Cassie eventually returned and watched 'To Wong Fu' with me after Maeg went to bed.
I think I would die if my friends did not constantly invite themselves over every single weekend. I would wilt. And my mind would falter insistently. And people would die in its path.
IT'S JUST BETTER THIS WAY.
Maeg and I have decided that our new kitchen is tipping the scales toward 'sterile'. Instead of applying black contact paper in an alternating fashion, we are turning the deserialization process into an art project! I am going to (attempt to) cut out silhouetted portraits of an array of random 'historic' figures (the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Sigmund Freud, and Whoopi Goldberg, etc) simultaneous contrast style. I'll pull it off. And it will send sparks into the air.
