Live from Gen*Con: Day 2
Today was the first day of actual live nerd activity, and boy was there quite a bit to be had. I was able to take my camera out and about among the conventionites, and thusly can bring you some of the most up to date convention information available. But because I’m very tired, mostly what I want to do is tell you about two things. First, Chip had a HUGE hole in his pants. Here is a picture of the giant hole in Chip’s pants.
Secondly, I met the king and queen of the nerds today. They aren’t actually related yet, but will be in two days when they have their wedding in the “tavern” here at the convention. I realize this is only barely on par with a wedding at the renaissance festival, or maybe the Klingon-themed weddings at Dragon*Con. But I put it to you that these two folks in their middle thirties are in fact the most intensely nerdy people in existence. My evidence? Here’s a picture of the rings they had specially crafted for their wedding:
Yes, that’s a tiny jade D20 set into a customized white-gold band. Not only that, but their registry consists of everything they want from the convention dealer’s room. So far these are my favorite people from the convention. I’m totally going to the wedding.
Also today I played in Chip’s demo game and I was funny.
I’ll try to get at this whole writing thing earlier in the day tomorrow.
