data_cookies: Hello, Taka-chan.
burning_chef: Oh, hi Inui-kun! How are you?
data_cookies: Rather surprised, actually. I just got an email from my mother asking me to come home for the weekend. Did you get a similar one?
burning_chef: ...I did, actually. From my dad, asking me to come home this weekend too. He said he wanted me to meet someone.
data_cookies: Do you remember when we said we should introduce our parents?
burning_chef: Yeah, I remember. Because they were so alike, they'd really be a good match.
data_cookies: Well I sent my mother an email to update her on my new school and life in general. I mentioned that your family owned a sushi shop in the better part of our district... somehow I think the 'nice sushi man' she mentioned might be your father.
burning_chef: ...This is...a really huge coincidence. He mentioned he met a really nice lady, and wanted me to meet her. I guess he meant your Mother...wow.
data_cookies: Well, I suppose planning to let them meet on parent-teacher day was one-upped by my mother being too tired to cook for herself a few nights a week. Did you want to catch the bus back with me?
burning_chef: Sure, I was wondering when I should go. It'll be better if we travel together anyway! And it might be a little surprise if we head up early...we're pretty ahead of our studies.
data_cookies: That's a given for the two of us. There's a night bus that leaves around 7pm. I think the only one with the right transfers before that is too early for us to catch because it's during school hours.
burning_chef: Well, it's not like I have to pack too much anyway, I can be ready by then. I'll just take my suitcase with me to last class, and we can meet outside right after?
data_cookies: All right. I will do the same. Did you need anything like travel sickness medicine? I can bring extra if you like.
burning_chef: No, I'm pretty good when driving, I just make sure I don't eat too much and I'll be fine. I'll be taking home a few extra sets of clothing, to swap for something warmer...maybe you should do the same?
data_cookies: I don't really have many sets of clothes. Just one set of good ones and then the rest are for training. I might bring some more casual clothes back though, since I have more of a social life than I anticipated.
burning_chef: Hmmm, I might bring a few sets of comfier clothes. I end up cooking a lot, and I'd like to be in loose clothing. Social life, not so much.
data_cookies: Well you're social with me. Though I suppose it's not something either of us really dress up for.
burning_chef: I don't think we need to dress up to see each other...that kind of defeats the point a little. For me, anyway. You have to be yourself around your friends.
data_cookies: Mn. I am still not used to seeing people at all. I suppose this is why I don't know. Ah, also, before we leave, do you think we should pick up drinks for the ride back?
burning_chef: That might not be too bad of an idea, since the bus schedule is very erratic. We should cook something too, while we're there.
data_cookies: I thought I could prepare some things in lunch break today for us to eat. Do you want to meet me in the home ec kitchens and make snacks?
burning_chef: Yes, I'd like that. Anything in mind? I was thinking some sandwiches, if only because they're easy to transport, and not messy.
data_cookies: Yes practical foods are best. Sandwiches sound good to me as well. Rice balls might be good too?
burning_chef: Yes, that should be good along with the drinks. You do have a thermos, right? I don't know where mine is at the moment.
data_cookies: I have one. It's not really a problem to share (for me at least) unless you're uncomfortable with it.
burning_chef: I don't have a problem with it either, so I guess it's not a problem. Is there anything else we need for the way up? Maybe I should pack a blanket.
data_cookies: I don't have a blanket that's small enough to travel lightly with. I do have a good pillow for travelling though. It's big enough to stretch across two of those bus seats.
burning_chef: Good, because I don't have a pillow big enough for that, but I do have a small quilt that I made a few years ago, when I was trying to learn how to stitch. That should fit, since it shouldn't be that cold anyway.
data_cookies: So we have food, pillow, blanket, drinks, clothes and our travel time organised.. I think that should be about it, don't you?
burning_chef: I can't think of anything else, since we'll probably just either sleep or talk the whole time to keep ourselves busy.
data_cookies: Or you could show me how to fix my pants, too. Though that might make me somewhat travel sick. I found that I can't really read or try and concentrate on things on such a long trip.
burning_chef: It might be a little hard to sew also, will all the bumps. Thimbles are useful, but they aren't great when driving. I can show you when we get home though, and everything settles down.
data_cookies: Ah yes. Good point. I wonder what those two have planned? It sounded like something more than just a regular 'meet my child, potential suitor' kind of thing.
burning_chef: Which is really weird, because they can't have known each other for that long, otherwise we would have known each other before we came here.
data_cookies: This is true. I wasn't aware she stopped for sushi or anything, but it's a possibility. Maybe they just really get along well? My mother hasn't really been interested in men after my father, so it is strange for her to seem so excited.
burning_chef: My father was the same way, and to my knowledge, he never saw someone when I was around. It might have been us being around that...kept them from going out and seeing someone, I guess.
data_cookies: Maybe... though the thought of that is pretty saddening really. I know it would potentially be so they didn't hurt our feelings because we know the other person is not related to us.. but I don't think that means they need to stop living their lives in that respect.
burning_chef: I know it's something my father would do, anyway...and you sound like you know it would be something your mother would. Maybe they just wanted to spend time with us? I don't think it was that hard for them, and they did have to adjust.
data_cookies: It's rare for my mother to call me home. She usually catches up on rest on the weekends or takes extra shifts. It means she's taken the weekend off. For us, this is something.. notable.. I think. It looks like we shall just have to wait and see when we get home.
burning_chef: Which wouldn't be very good at all, considering we do have that quiz tomorrow. I know that it's still going to keep me awake tonight, though...even if sleep is important.
data_cookies: I don't think you will have to worry about your score too much, Taka. You have been revising thoroughly and we're both ahead in the material. There is a high possibility our grades will be at the top of the class.
burning_chef: I know, but I don't like doing badly on tests, because it only takes the one quiz to mess everything up for people. I know that I would study and come back for the next one, but...it's just harder that way. I guess I worry too much.
data_cookies: Mn, you should rest. We will have a long trip after school tomorrow. I think you will do exceptionally on the test whether you do additional revising tonight or not. Statistically speaking, you're not going to retain too much of your cram study for tomorrow morning anyway. In addition, I should also rest, I've had a stressful week.
data_cookies: I will see you tomorrow at lunch?
burning_chef: Tomorrow at lunch, it is! I'll continue packing tonight, to make it easier for when we do actually need to leave.
data_cookies: Sounds good. I will also pack my bag tonight. See you tomorrow.
burning_chef: Have a good night!
data_cookies: Sleep well.
burning_chef: You too, Inui-kun.
