"Not really, but the flash can startle them, especially at night. One tipped over once and Colin had to wake dad up to help him get it standing again," he said. He gave his girlfriend a frown as she talked about her parents. Did the realize how special she was? There wasn't another bid like her and there never will be.
"Have you looked for a place yet? I mean, you talked about it," he said. "How's it going at the Leaky? Did you talk to the woman in charge of the Magical Menagerie?"

"No, I wanted to be sure about where I was going. I mean, the possibility of the Snidget Preserve would mean I'd live there, so for now, I'm saving. For whatever happens. I'm at the Leaky so much they rarely see me at home." And it was better that way. "I haven't, mostly because Tom's giving me more to do besides bus tables. I get drinks on occasion, help with dishes and such back in the kitchen." She shrugged and smiled. "No one's been a bother, and the waitstaff know me pretty well by now, so I'd hate to leave them shorthanded. Maybe if Tom cuts my hours."

He really did try not to frown, but he still didn't like the idea of Orla work at the Leaky. Although, he did understand her reason for staying. Not all surprised that Orla was working more hours, he nodded, changing the subject. "So, do you think it might be time for me to meet them? Your parents."

She saw the look on his face, and gave him a squeeze. She knew he didn't like it, but wasn't arguing with her. She wanted to enjoy their time together, and not fight about her job.
She gave a sigh, smiling ruefully. 'Yeah, think so. Though part of me thinks you'll spend one hour with them and be ready to wash your hands of me."

"When would be a good time to meet them?"
Reply
"Um, let me check. Probably on a Saturday." She wouldn't subject him to a full evening, but thought tea might work. "If you're not busy then."

He was nervous about meeting her parents. He had never met a bird's parents before, so he didn't have any idea what was expected of him.

She gave him a squeeze as they walked back to the house. "I'll set something up, yeah?"

"I hope they like me," he said in a whispered. Meeting the parents was a big deal, but Dennis had a feeling meeting the parents of a witch, even if they were muggles, was going to be far more nerve wracking.
