Orla had finally gotten to the point where she responded to Dennis's nickname. She hadn't quite gotten to the point where the giggling of younger students didn't make her blush when he said it. She glanced up quickly with an abstracted smile. "Dunno. Think I need to work more on Charms this week." She was wholly focused on revising, to the point where any time she spent with Dennis felt a bit like she should be studying.

He frowned and gave a small pout. "We could study outside, unless you need a specific book." he suggested. Feeling slightly caged in, he was hoping she would join him.

"We could take a short one, 20 minutes. Fresh air would be good."

She gnawed on her lip. She hated it when he pouted. She had no ability to resist that coming from him, and she was certain he knew it.

She had heard that getting some vitamin D from the sun helped productivity. "Ok. Just let me get a few things..." She went to check out two books she was certain to need in the revising process, packed her bag up, and looked expectantly at Dennis.

Dennis broke out into a broad grin. "Take you time," he said as he quickly swept he things haphazardly into his bag. He Waited until Orla had checked out the book she needed before taking her bag and tossing over his opposite shoulder and taking her hand.

"I was think we could go to our tree and work on Charms." he said as they began to head towards the outside. "Easter break is coming up. Are you going to stay or go home?"

Orla also never got used to how Dennis would just... sweep in and carry her books. Sometimes she wanted to fuss him, and demand he let her carry her own bloody books, but so far she let him. He meant well. He just didn't realize how incapable it tended to make her feel.

She took a long moment to focus, and set aside her mental worklist she'd been revising in her head before she answered. "Staying. I have every year. Well, every year I've been here." She shrugged. "Are you going home?" She was ashamed to admit she hoped he was, so she could get some studying done without his distraction. He was a lovable distraction, but a distraction nonetheless. And it would give her time to contact the Snidget Preserve without him knowing.

He was still so happy to be outside for a moment he didn't even notice that Orla needed some time before she answered. He shrugged. "Probably stay. I don't know if my mum and dad will be able to afford to come to the train station and get me."

AS they stepped outside, Dennis inhaled deeply and blinked at the sun, which was out that day. "Look, the sun's out." He glanced down at her.

Drat. Orla managed a smile. "Well, the house elves cook up a good feast, so either way, Easter dinner will be good. If not as good as your mum's cooking." She had enjoyed her visit, once she'd gotten past her nerves and embarrassment.

Orla felt the warmth on her face and smiled, pleased to soak up as much sun as she could. It was a good idea, to come outside with Dennis. She smiled up at him. "Thanks for talking me into coming out." Not too many students were out yet, so it was quiet enough to get some work done.

As they neared the tree, Orla returned to her mental list. She needed to do some more reading on Charms, before she could revise the theory essay she was working on. She also was reading up on some of the more exotic animals for Care of Magical Creatures, and she needed to make a list of notes for her practice essays.

"The elves are great, but nothing's better than Mum's cooking, " he said with a smile. "I"ll let her know that you like it. You know, you can come by anytime this summer."

Dennis lead them toward their tree, which was beginning to sprout leaves. "This place is going to look really nice with all the leaves and stuff." He looked down at her again and saw that she was thinking. Probably about school. he thought, a little disappointed. Sometimes he thought that was all they talked about. "Can you believe that summer is only two months away?"

"I'd like that. When I'm not working. Tom said I could come back to the Leaky, and with my Apparition license, it'll be easy to get around." She was REALLY looking forward to getting her Apparition license. She hoped she was focused enough to pass her first time.

"Yeah." She said vaguely, not completely listening. Dennis was such a romantic, and it was lovely.... but NEWTs were less than 2 months away and she didn't feel even remotely ready.

"Time's going too fast." She fretted. "There's still a lot to prep for NEWTs." She frowned a bit. "But once it's here, that means more time together." She knew she wasn't being fair to him, always about school, so she gave his hand a squeeze.

"Yeah. Mum will show you how to make cheese and cream and stuff, if you want." She was going back to the Leaky? he thought, making a face. "I thought you were going to the Snippet Reserve," he said.

He nodded in understanding. "I know exams are coming soon, but it would be nice to see you and talk about something besides studying all the time."

"That'd be neat." She caught his face and looked at him, a bit bewildered. "I can't get a real job until I get my NEWT scores, and they don't come until August. Professor Flitwick said it was a good idea to start saving money in advance, since I'm muggleborn and I want to try and find a flat in the wizarding world. And it's Snidget Reserve." She wasn't sure why he was acting like this. "I'm still thinking about it. Its hard to worry about what to do after my NEWTs when I still have to take my NEWTs."

"I know I get a bit one-tracked." Orla said, coloring a little. "But you know how important it is to me to do well." So that no one would ever question her place as a wizard, even as a muggleborn wizard.

He smiled. "Myfanwy, you just need to show up to the exam and you'll get an 'O'," he said. Dennis knew she was going to do brilliantly because she was so bright and intelligent, which was one of the many qualities he liked about her. "You're going to get straight 'O's, I know it."

Nodding as she corrected him, he asked, "Have you thought about maybe working at the Magical Menagerie? If you worked there, you can show the Snidget Reserve how dedicated to magical creatures you are."

Dennis didn't like the idea of her working at the Leaky; not anymore at least. Thinking that if he helped her find someplace else to work, he would feel better.

Orla gave Dennis a look and rolled her eyes a bit. "Thank you for your confidence, but it takes a bit more than that. I've earned my marks, trust me." She had been just as bad at OWLs as she was being for NEWTs. She gave his hand another squeeze.

"No, I hadn't considered it. Do you think they're hiring? Be nice if I could get more hours, and maybe work both." She'd try and find out over Easter. Sending a query letter wouldn't hurt. She looked at him. "You'll be busy with the dairy, yeah? Are your parents going to need more help when you're off to the Dragon Reserve?" She took it as a given that Dennis would get hired there. He was very motivated and dedicated.

She sat down at the base of their tree and took her bag from Dennis. She was anxious to get back to work.

He smiled as she rolled her eyes; he knew she earned them. "Yes, I'm been watching you study almost all year. I can see how dedicated you are to your marks."

Shrugging, he said, "I don't know. Maybe you can send them an owl and ask. The worse thing they can say is they aren't, right? Maybe they would need someone full time and you won'thave to work at the Leaky.

The mention of the dairy made Dennis roll his eyes. "Yeah, I'll be back at the dairy." he said with a huge sigh. "Da always has help when I'm at school, I'm sure they will just keep them on if I work at the reserve.

When Orla sat down, Dennis handed her the bag he was carrying before dropping down next to her. He rumanged through his bag until he found the notes he looking for as he settled in next to her. "You said you wanted to work on charms?"

She smiled, pleased. It had to be a killjoy, to know your girlfriend was more attentive to school than to her boyfriend, but Dennis could wait. NEWTs couldn't. It was the rest of her life, even if she thought he might be too ( ... )

Dennis merely grunted. "I understand wanting to see your friends," he said. "Just..." His voice trailed off, he wasn't going to say that. "Never mind."

Dennis shook his head. "Cows maybe easier, but dragons a ten times cooler."

Thanking Orla as she handed him a pillow, he shoved it under himself. "I think the same magical principles apply to both charms, you know the repelling part."
