RP: Too Much Information?

Summary: Harry and Ron go to the informational session regarding Auror training.

Harry and Ron were sitting in a room with a few others their age and a few people they recognized from Hogwarts who must have been a year or two ahead of them in school. There were also, of course, a few younger than them who had just finished Hogwarts with Harry and Ron this year since they had taken the extra year to complete their NEWTs. It was obvious that everyone in the room with them was both intelligent and also acutely aware of Harry's presence in the room.
He and Ron chatted in hushed voices, ignoring the others as much as possible until Gawain Robards himself appeared and walked to the front of the room. He introduced himself and gave a brief, but informative speech about the various components which typically comprise Auror training.
Though he made a somewhat gruff and scruffy first impression, Harry was surprised to find himself engaged throughout his speech and interested even in the details of what kind of training schedule they could expect - 3 years of lessons in advanced personal defense, stealth and tracking, concealment and disguise, self-healing, and other such courses of study. He reiterated that top scores were necessary in NEWTs, particularly in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, and Transfiguration.
"In addition to NEWT scores, we also expect at least two letters of personal or professional recommendation. The candidate must also pass a physical and mental health inspection by a certified healer, a criminal background check, and will be subjected to a thorough and stringent series of character and aptitude tests here at the Ministry of Magic. These tests will assess skill and experience in practical defense, perseverance, dedication, and the ability to react with a level head in situations of extreme stress."
Robards paused.
"Are there any additional questions?" he asked.
Harry turned to Ron and whispered. "Do you think the criminal record part will work against us? I mean, I know we got off on most charges, but I have to wonder if they'll even consider us with the record we have for defying authority," Harry said nervously.
