She had never danced in front of anyone else before - all of Aurelia's lessons had been one-on-one; probably her mother's efforts at hiding the fact her daughter was engaging in an activity she didn't seem to approve of.
For Merlin's sake, it's only dancing.
Right? What reason could she have to be embarrassed? She wasn't about to start comparing her abilities to anyone else's, that much was certain.
And yet she still lingered a foot or so in from the doorway, cloak still covering her leotard with her pointes grasped tightly in one hand.

Daphne hadn't known Aurelia to be a dancer, but she was familiar with her family from formal social functions, so she felt she must be polite.
"Looks like Lavender's already here," Daphne said, nodding in the direction of the other dancer. "I'm sure Madam Irveline will want to get started soon... I'll see you inside?"
Daphne double checked her point shoes were tied firmly and went to join Lavender in front of the barre.
"Lavender, it's so good to see you," Daphne said, smiling at the girl. "I feel like we've been meaning to do more dance lately and just haven't. I'm so glad Madame has agreed to this class. I really need the discipline."

"I know what you mean. I kept making excuses and now I'm terribly out of shape," she said with a little laugh. "It'll be good to get back into a routine."
Lavender knelt down to adjust one of her shoes. "How have you been? Did you have a good holiday?" she asked.

You're over-thinking, she informed herself as she removed her cloak and began to lace up her pointes, it just can't be as bad as you think it is.
After checking and re-checking the lacing, she approached the other two girls with a nervous smile, "Hello." This wasn't natural. She was never this nervous.
