Hey there people, "Whadda Ya At?" as my sister-in-law from Newfoundland would say. Life progress apace here at Club Chaos; even now both kids are crying at me because I put them to bed early and turned off their favorite video. Or is the other way round, that turning off their favorite video got them upset, and putting them to bed early is just another rudeness for them to endure? Either way, better that then beating them for playing with the Christmas tree again. Yes, the tree is up already, thanks to my cute hubby, although it isn't yet decorated. That's my chore for tomorrow, I think.
On the not-so-nice news front, my cat Crusty is at the vet's right now; he's (hopefully) gong to be fine, but the vet isn't sure what exactly is wrong with him. His blood levels show elevated white blood cells with some kidney/liver involvement, but they're not off the chart, just slightly higher than they should be. He's also under 10 pounds, which is low for a cat his size, and he's dehydrated. So the vet is giving him some easily-digested recuperative food, fluids, and rest. The worry is that since he goes outside, that he may have picked up FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) or Feleuk (feline leukemia), any of which can cause a slow, lingering decline and eventual death, and all of which can be contagious to Akuna and Bubbles. How nice, eh? For now they're giving him fluids and antibiotics, feeding him as much as he will eat and we're going to do a Viral Series of blood tests, just to see one way or the other. The very nice vet said he can probably go home tomorrow, and I told him that's probably a good thing, that way he gets an extra day away from Colin and Riley. The Viral screen results should be back tomorrow night, at which point we can formulate a plan of action, whatever the results are. I'm crossing my fingers and toes, asking for all my luck to be transferred to my poor cat and sending up a prayer or two that everything will be ok. In the meantime, Akuna and Bubbles are hanging around looking for attention, and possibly reassurance? I think they miss Crusty...
