Something positive for a change!

Enough dwelling on how much I miss my dog...

Last Sunday I had a noteworthy achievement. A very good day on the archery range. I run a weekly archery practice, weather permitting, for the local SCA Barony. Here in Central Texas, we have weather in the high 40's to low 50's right now, so unless it's raining, we can still do outdoor activities like Archery, and don't have to look for arrows lost in snow!

It was a bit cold for using my longbow. Cold hands and traditional longbow techniques don't make for accurate archery. So I got out my 65 pound Crossbow, to see how well I could do.

After 6 or so rounds to warm up and get sighted in at 20 yards, we took a break for lunch. My best score so far that day was a 21 out of a possible 30. About average for me when I'm having a good day.

After lunch, I was the first one to return to the firing line, and I managed an incredibly accurate round - 5 shots in the bullseye, and one shot less than an an arrow shaft's width outside the edge of the bullseye, for a score of 29 out of a possible 30! I had someone witness the score before I pulled my arrows, and with that person watching, scored a 28 on my next round! (4 bullseyes and two just barely outside the bullseye.) Then a 27, and then another 29!
