A trip back to North Bend for my birthday

A quick comparison to last year shows that there's no extra bulletholes.

You know your mates know you well, when so sure are they that you'll get lost on the way to the crag that they leave you a birthday balloon and write your name down the tree that indicates which trail to follow

Erin get's mauled/slobbered on by Stasi

Gritscone, with some 5.7 to 11d routes

Erin on 'Lucky Arms' (5.6)

Taking a breather on 'Pete's Possum Palace' (5.7)

The area looks as though a horde of ogres came wandering through and gnawed on it.

Trying '99 Grit' (5.9)

Stasi and I taking a break (5.zzzzz)

And then time for prezzies. Made in China, bought in England, handed over in America.

Postcard shot: (left to right) Me, Jim, Tom, and John. The ascenders of naturally occurring solid aggregates of minerals and/or mineraloids

The sun actually makes an appearance

My first 10a outdoors - 'Chica Rapida'

Heading back to Deception Crags to try leading and such all on our own without any experienced climbers to help out. (oooo, scary)

Fully loaded wilderness explorer

A pause to enjoy the calming atmos of Change Creek

A tree growing atop a boulder. That's just weird.

Geared up and ready to lead climb 'Mom, there's pink in my burger' (5.6) but decided at the last minute to go for it and climb the 5.7 'Bottom's Up'.

There's a really tricky bit here, and it's so tempting to just grab the tree for assistance.

Leading (like a boss)

Toproping (like a boss)

And then time for burgers and beer and some footie on he telly (and the sign that amuses me so much is still up on the wall)

Mount Si where we climbed a few weeks back looking awesome in the sunlight.

Indeed!
