After being cooked once already, time for a repeat roast

Our second climbing location.

Chosen because well, it wasn't in the sun when we arrived

So hot, even the rock is melting

The top of the formation on the left, that's a lion's head right?

A view from the bottom of the route out across the orchards.

Looking right, and yet more orchards in the valley. What is it with these people and apples?

Jim continuing upwards as I go and get a second rope so we can try the second pitch

A big ugly rock

After attaching the other rope to myself, I started on up to clean the route of the cams, only to have the last one come free as I was heading towards it. Gave me quite the fright as both it and the rope just dropped away from where Jim is right now.

After that little incident, and with the sun now blazing down on that face, we headed back to that weird melty formation we passed on the way up. The hole you see is the start of a tunnel...

And the tunnel comes out on this side.

The melty rock face part.

Jim led it, and I followed up to the tunnel

I started heading in and found that it was actually a series of weird round caves all connected like a honeycomb.

So we headed in and had lunch.

Before rappelling down

Back on the ferry coming home. What is that thing?

Oh, it's the radar base heading back out to sea

It's a shame to see it go, I was hopinh it would stay and join the skyline silhouette along with the Space Needle

A very spiff trip (just wish it'd been ten ot twenty degrees cooler)
