So I had my first really bad experience on Xbox Live last night. I sometimes get shit from people, especially if I'm playing bad. Mostly I can ignore it or laugh it off, but this was something I couldn't just turn my back on. Keep in mind, we're playing during this exchange, so I'm tyring to concentrate more on not dying and less on actually talking to the guy.
Jerk-Off: PoramenTatoes, are you a girl?
Me: Yes.
J-O: How old are you?
Me: 22.
J-O: No way! You're not 22.
Me: Yes, I am. How old are you?
J-O: 30.
16 Year-Old: I'm 16.
J-O: Are you hot?
Me: No, I'm actually really ugly.
J-O: Really?
Me: No, but I'm not going to be so conceited as to say I'm hot.
J-O: I'm looking at your ass.
(In the game, his avatar is looking at my avatar's ass.)
Me: So you are.
J-O: Where are you from?
Me: Central NY. You?
J-O: Oregon.
Me: All the way across the States. Nice.
(At this point I'm trying to be nice and not piss him off because I had the feeling he could be really rude. This feeling was confirmed.)
J-O: I hear East-Coast girls are good in bed.
Me: Oh yeah?
J-O: Yeah. Are you good in bed?
Me: I think that's a bit inappropriate.
16 Year-Old: Whoa! Using big words!
Me: I was an English major, it's expected.
J-O: When you're in bed, do you scream like a little bitch?
(I ignore this at first, hoping he'd get the hint.)
J-O: Or do you just moan a lot?
Then I went into the menu and muted him. He didn't stop when I told him it was inappropriate, and I knew he wasn't going to stop and I didn't want to listen to him any more. This means I can't hear him and he can't hear me. He must've kept talking because the little kid finally said:
16 Year-Old: I don't think she likes you any more.
Me: I muted him because I didn't want to listen to him.
16 Year-Old: She muted you, dude.
(Pause)
16 Year-Old: He called you a bad name.
(I'm going to assume he called me a cunt.)
Me: I don't give a shit what he called me.
(Pause)
16 Year-Old: He told me to tell you that you suck.
Me: Don't tell me anything he says. I muted him for a reason.
16 Year-Old: Okay.
After the game, I went into the dude's profile and filed a complaint against him to Xbox Live on the terms of harrassment. I wasn't pissed off that he was asking me those questions, I was more upset that he was saying it in front of a minor. And he must've continued on with his lewd behavior even after I muted him, because he didn't know.
However, I was complimented by a few guys yesterday. One said I played really well for a girl. Another called me dude, then apologized. When I told him I didn't care being called dude, he was really shocked. He then said he was going to friend me because I was so easy going.
Most of the men on Xbox Live aren't total jackasses. But there are always a few, and if he did it with me, he has either done it or will do it to other girls. I'm just trying to keep the community safe for us females, since we're the minority and we don't get much credit in the first place.
