FRIDAY: Curtain Call
There's a feeling AJ gets right before he does a show, a cocktail of nerves and a thrill that won't be tamped down. And then, underneath all that, a grounding calm, knowledge that he's exactly where he's supposed to be. Watching a show, though - that's different. All of his good memories - his best memories - are tied up in the stage. It's anticipation and excitement and worlds of possibility opening up.
This - tonight - is another story altogether. AJ's somewhere in between the nerves and excitement, and Professor Kirkpatrick, when he spots him from the wings, shoots him a look that makes AJ simultaneously want to roll his eyes, laugh, and apologize. It's also the first time all week he can look up when Brian joins him at their seats with a flicker of a smile he doesn't have to second guess. "Did you get the program?"
