Weekend

Oy Vey what a weekend.  That seemed to start on Thursday.

The kids were out of school on Thursday for parent teacher conferences.  They are all doing well, although Becca has slacked off some.  She runs in cycles like that.  Does well, feels like she can coast, grades slip a little, back on the wagon.  Her study habits this week reflect she is back to trying again.  Of course it could be the 5.00 an A I offered her for the next 9 weeks.  Devin did her best ever and got mostly a's with a couple of b's.  Nicely done.  Timmy is hitting all his goals for class and is responding much better to his new teacher, since the old one went out on maternity leave.  I am very glad about that.

Friday Becca, Tim and I went with my mother, aunt and uncle to Batesville for a Nascar signing event.  Oh my Robin's Dog.  We arrived at 9 and were somewhere around 750th in line.  Blarg.  After waiting until 1 when they handed out the wrist bands that told if you were going to get an autograph or not, and finding out we only had a chance at it and that he wasn't signing until 4 pm... I packed up the kids and went home.  It was insane.  Mom, Margie and Marty did stay and did get the autographs, but didn't get home until 8 pm that night.  And did I mention that it was FREEZING out there?  And it was all outside? Sooo not my idea of a fun time.  Mom was happy though, so I guess that counts for something.

I came home and baked Timmy's cake for his birthday party the next day. And cleaned house...

Saturday was up early again to finish decorating his cake.  He had a Lightin' McQueen Cake from the movie Cars.  It turned out well.  Finished tidying the house and decorated.  Finished up just about 30 minutes before the guests arrived.  We ended up with 11 kids (+ my 3).  Some of my family and friends as well.  The party was set for 2 hours and that was just right.  Had hot dogs and chicken nuggets, cake and ice cream.  He got some pretty thoughtful gifts and one that I want to sneak into the trash as soon as possible.  Some kind of learn karate kicking/ punching bag thing.  Arrggg.

We crashed after the party and ordered pizza for dinner.  Timmy was very happy with his party and his birthday.  It was really his first time having lots of friends over at the same time and that just about broke his little mind he was so happy.  There were no fights or arguments either so that was great.  It was a rowdy but well behaved group of boys with 2 or 3 little girls thrown in for good measure.

Sunday was Easter.  It was a very quiet day... It didn't feel much like Easter without doing a big family gathering, but mom wasn't up to it.  She was missing Granny too much... I can understand, but I don't see the point of cutting off the rest of your family either.  Its depression with her... She's not handling the loss very well.  Not that I am too surprised by this.

But the Bunny came to see the kids.  Left some nice baskets.  It seems that Devin (not surprisingly) doesn't believe anymore and Becca doesn't either... she also tried to tell Timmy the truth about the bunny, but he was having none of that.  But it looks like our Bunny days are coming to an end.  Bound to happen, but a little sad too.

Easter dinner was quite good.  Had a Bourbon glazed ham, mashed sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, homemade rolls.  For dessert, homemade chocolate pie and chocolate cheesecake mini tarts.  Quite yummy.

I'll do another post in a bit on my trip to Dallas and the hotel meetings.
