Because you asked me to post. . . . .
The best summer I’ve had in years is now officially over. I took a vacation and had friends stay with me. My daughter lost a tooth. I read some great books (We Were the Mulvaneys was not one of them, but I couldn’t stop reading it despite the fact that I hated it.) and did some really productive work on my classes. I’ve even read WL papers. In fact, I know my students not by their names and faces but by their names and WL titles. (I’ll admit it’s a little strange that I’m proud of this.) I went roller skating, and I can sing most of the songs on Hillary Duff’s Metamorphosis. (I’m not proud of this; I’m surprised I’m at all willing to confess it.) I went to Panama City every day for a week for a workshop. They started building my dock, and I have faith that they’ll finish even though I haven’t seen hide nor hair of any “worker guys” (as Catherine calls them) in over a week. I have stopped saying the “B” word until it’s completely finished, however. I cooked a lot of great meals, watched some serious movies, and ran a lot of miles.
Here are the things I hoped to accomplish but didn’t:
Convert my antique armoire to a liquor cabinet
Teach Catherine to read
Spend more time with my parents
Read more books
Have lunch with my friend JF
Play more bridge
Buy living room end tables
I’m really in the weeds now, however, and work hasn’t even officially started.
