It’s feast or famine around mi casa. Just yesterday, three screaming kids and four adults crowded my house. I’ve cooked, washed dishes, cooked some more, washed clothes, and cooked even more. I’m pooped. Now, my company is gone, Cougar is TDY, and Catherine is asleep in her own bed instead of mine. I’m going to watch a chick flick all by myself tonight. Ahhhhhh. (That’s supposed to represent a contented sigh.)
My friends live in Colorado now, but we knew them well years ago when we were all DINK (double income, no kids) transients living 30 miles outside of LA. There were two other couples as well, and we spent all of our weekends together. Circumstances separated us, and now we all have kids and rarely get to see each other. So it was fun-but not the same-when they came to visit. We went to the beach every day for three days in a row. That’s more than I usually go during an entire summer, but I remember now why I used to go more often. It was beautiful, and the kids loved it. I actually have tan lines, something I’ve ardently tried not to get for the past 10-12 years, but it was worth it. And I’ll be my old pale self in no time.
IB scores are in. My students make me proud. I hope everyone has been able to access; if they haven’t, I hope they know they can contact me, and I’ll put them in touch with the right person. (I have some information I can share, but I don't know all.)
The end of summer is approaching much too quickly. Especially since I still don’t have a dock. They delivered a whole bunch of lumber and supplies, but it’s been an eyesore in my back yard for almost two weeks now with no actual construction.
