I love you all, I really do, but this has got to stop.

I've listened, I really have, and I'm not seeing it. I'm not a goddess, I don't have any special powers, at least ones that aren't special to me. The growing things is just what I do; it's part of my world ( Read more... )

You might say I know a few things~. What do you want to know?

Well... I guess the different types, how they function, and, most importantly, how to fire one.

Different types... uh... heh, there's more different types of guns than you can count. The gun's got a long history. There's pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, machine guns, miniguns, autocannons, artillery guns, tank guns... just to name a few classes. ...Not that any of that's likely to mean anything to you, if you don't know what a gun is. And based on what I'm seeing in your replies to people, it looks like guns are a new thing for you ( ... )

He has, I'm sorry! I wouldn't mind demonstrations from other people. I'm sure you all use different techniques?

That doesn't mean I don't want to hear about it, however. Guns don't exist in my world, but I suppose that's the downside to being from an older universe.

What are you apologizing to me for? That's good you've got people looking out for you. And... not sure there's much variation in technique, actually. But you'll need lots of target practice... suppose I wouldn't mind giving you some pointers. Just let me know, whenever.

Well, I'm happy to answer any more questions you might have. There's just... like I said, there's a lot to know about guns. I wouldn't even know where to start.

I'd like that, actually! I'll see how it goes with Sam first.

And I do have a question. I've been following your conversation with Gregory and if the weapon he recommended to me isn't semi-automatic, would it still take magazines or something else?

Ha, I was about to mention something to you, actually.

Semi-automatics versus revolvers... semi-automatics use magazines which load into the handle of the gun... the bullets go into the magazine in a stack, and a spring at the bottom pushes the bullets up to the barrel and hammer as you fire. Like a Pez dispenser. ...Never mind, you won't know what Pez is either. A revolver has a cylinder above the trigger that pops sideways out of the gun... you load the bullets into that, in a circle. As you fire, the cylinder revolves to bring the bullets between hammer and barrel. Thus the name "revolver".

A revolver generally holds 5 or 6 rounds... bullets, that is... although some larger models hold up to 10. I believe the Ladysmith holds 5 rounds. Semi-automatics usually hold more... my Glock 30 holds 10, a larger gun would hold more than that.

The Ladysmith's a good gun, it's a good recommendation. It's small and easy to handle. If you're looking for a compact semi-automatic, I'd recommend the same gun I have, the Glock 30.
