Hello again!
I have something very exciting to share with you. As many of you know, I adore
goblinfruit, brainchild of
tithenai and
mer_moon, purveyors of poetry of the fantastic.
My new poem,
The Sea Witch Talks Show Business, is in
the Summer issue of Goblin Fruit. I have wanted to publish with them since I found out they existed, and this poem is one of my favorites. (
tithenai may or may not have read an early and unfinished draft, then given me a simultaneously pitiful and outraged face when pressing the "down" arrow did not produce more poem. These are things I treasure.)
It gets better though. Our own
s00j, maker of music and mischief, monster-girl mentor and mistress, who did such a lovely recording of
yuki_onna's
The Secrets of Being a Cowboy for
Stone Telling last March, has recorded my Sea Witch. So you can
read the poem and/or hear her read it to you, or both.
I am almost indecently excited about this. Not least because, coming August 1, this issue of Goblin Fruit will also feature the second installment of
yuki_onna's
A Silver Splendour, A Flame, her beautiful, sprawling, Persephone poem. (The link goes to the Spring installment, for those who haven't seen it yet.) Also there is
Post-Modern Cinderella, a poem by
seanan_mcguire, and much other excellence.
Go read the Summer issue, y'all. It will not be time wasted.
In other exciting news, while I did not win the 2011 Rhysling Award, equally-if-not-more-deserving sister-shipmate
csecooney did! (For a poem, not coincidentally, snapped up last spring by those professional purveyors of goblinoid delights who have taken a chance this issue on one of my best and most favorite girls.) C.S.E. Cooney's winning selection,
The Sea King's Second Bride, is scrumptious and you should go read it, then shower her with well-deserved praise for her win.
I am at home for the rest of the week, working and seeing friends and having a mini-vacation from the stresses of my life, during which I eat everything in Nashville that I can't get in Memphis. I hope you enjoy the poetry; please feel free to share with your friends if you like it. You can use this goo.gl short url to Sea Witch if you want, which lets me see how much traffic the poem is getting, but y'all may link however pleases you, of course. Short URL, if you want it, is
