In an anti-pope rally today in London, Sir Ian Mckellen said it all with a beautiful tee shirt.
As an activist for gay rights, and being gay himself, it's no surprise that he would rally against such a homophobic group. He has fought for gay rights ever since coming out publicly on BBC radio in 1988.
While a many thousands of people are delighted and honored to see the pope, many are appalled and angered.
Crowds gathered in London today to protest the pope's visit there.
People brought signs, flung condoms and had condom balloons, and marched against the pope, who time and time again apologizes for the sex abuse of children by priests in the Catholic Church, but never really does anything about it. They are most angry about the pope withholding files documenting sexual abuse by priests worldwide, as well as denouncing the use of condoms for safe sex, and homosexuality.
Sir Ian Mckellen, you are a hero. Thank you.
