It took me about three hours, but I made it to work.
What I should have done is just stay home and watch NY1 until they reported that subway service was being restored to normal. Instead, I walked all the way from Park Slope, down Flatbush Ave, along Fulton St, across the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall and then took a downtown (!) Q train (!!) from there uptown to Midtown, by which point I was D-E-D.
I didn't even hear it raining overnight, and it was enough of a downpour to cripple the city's transit infrastructure? Hmm, maybe Robert Moses was right to promote the self-reliance of automobiles over public mass transit. Also, the rest of the country.
