I could really use some help on the topic of quick and efficient ways to soundproof.
The story:
My boyfriend shares a house with several other people. He actually sleeps in the breakfast nook, which has an open wall, which is separated from the living room (and therefore, entertainment center) by pressboard and curtains. Try as he might to get them to quiet down while he sleeps, his housemates continue to do things like play videogames at three in the morning without turning the volume down. He's considering moving out, but it would be easier if he didn't have to. As much as I'd like to simply build him a real wall, I can't afford to do that, and neither can he. He's planning on putting shelving units in front of it, but I fear that they will only keep out minimal noise...
Any ideas??
